Modern Video Games / Where do you draw the line? New Game Prices
« on: February 27, 2024, 08:43:58 pm »
So, there’s a rumor out there that Grand Theft Auto 6 could cost up to $150. It has cost something to the tune of $2 BILLION (with a B) to make. It’ll be a banger of a game.

PS5 games have gone up to $70. That makes sense. Games have been $60 for 100 years.  It was time for a price increase. I just don’t know high folks will go for Day 1 releases.

What do you think?  How high can prices get before you bail?

Bought a game from the UK!  Great communication and super-fast shipping!  I hope they have more stuff I want.

General / Ever wish for shorter games?
« on: April 07, 2020, 12:05:14 pm »
The last two games I’ve finished, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and Blasphemous, we’re both pretty good games. I start off really digging it and trying to do everything.
Then, at some point I get bored and just want the game to be over. I power through and finish them, but the last 1/4 of the game feels like a chore.

Tell me I’m not alone. When was the last time a game left you wanting more?

Saw this on Twitter. Thought it might be fun.
What long gone cereal would you bring back from the grave?

General / No New Games in 2020
« on: December 27, 2019, 02:06:37 pm »
I’m going to try something that I have never done since somewhere around 1985. I’m going to try not to buy any new games in 2020. This doesn’t count gifts for others or stuff I’ve already preordered.

I have a huge backlog of really good games that are going to get lost if I don’t play them.

I’m not asking anyone to do this with me, but I’ll probably need some support.

General / Your favorite controller
« on: July 30, 2019, 12:11:19 pm »
I know we did this a while ago, but there’s a ton of new usernames.

What’s your favorite controller?  Is it some old school classic?  Is it the hottest thing going right now?  Let me know!

My #1 greatest controller ever is the XBox360 controller. It fits my hand perfectly and has the right number of buttons. I’d like to add a better Dpad, but that’s small potatoes.

Off Topic / The one event to make the most money
« on: March 19, 2019, 05:15:32 pm »
So, I was talking with a buddy of mine. We got to talking about if you had a Back to the Future style time machine, what one thing could you go back and do to make the most money?
Biff did sports betting, but I think if you won big or bet big you could alter the outcome. So, so it has to be one thing. One single shot.
We kicked around the Microsoft stock in the 80’s, Apple stocks before the ipod, and one of those big lotteries. What do y’all think would make you the wealthiest?

I thought I'd make a thread to show off the work I've been putting into this new space.  There's a ton of pictures coming.

I'm enjoying doing all of this.  I hope y'all kind of enjoy following the progress.

The quick link to the imgur album is right here My Building

If that's not for you, I'll put all the pictures on here.

Here's how this jewel was delivered. It was a one man operation. They have a dandy of a trailer that will move around in all directions.  It was insane.

That's just moving in one direction.

They had backed right up to where I wanted it unloaded.

He used this little buggy to lift on end of the building while the trailer held the other.

This gives you and idea of how they did it.

All set up.  Making sure it's plumb and square.

Insulation and some wiring is in.  I learned a lot about electrical stuff for this.

See?  There's my breaker box.  It's not wired up yet, but it's in there and looks important.

Sheetrock is up.

Sheetrock is up and cleaned up.  This is starting to come together.

Mudding Sheetrock sucks.  It's an art.  I'm not good at it.

Because I'm not good at mudding, I had to do a lot of sanding.  A LOT of sanding.  This has been the worst part by far.

General / Does your collecting ever shift gears?
« on: October 19, 2017, 11:48:37 am »
I've always been a Nintendo collector.  That's what the majority of my collection is.  I've noticed that my most wanted games these days are heading in the Sega direction.  I know!  Heresy, right?  I'm looking a lot of Dreamcast and Genesis games that I don't have.  I think my collecting is starting to shift towards Sega stuff.

Don't worry, Nintendo.  You'll always be #1 in my heart.  Daddy is just after a little strange.

Has your collecting ever shifted?  Do you just look up and see you're headed in a new direction?

I'm heading to Retropalooza in Arlington, TX this weekend.  I love
I've been considering jumping off into more Famicom games.  Do y'all have any recommendations for me?  I can't read Japanese.

My short list is Wai Wai World 1&2, Star Wars, and Saiyuuki World (Whomp 'Em in the US).  That's all I have so far.

I have a few in my collection already.
Kid Dracula
Parodius Da!
The Goonies
Devil World
Booby Kids (hehehe)

General / Retropalooza V !!! Who's coming with me?
« on: October 02, 2017, 02:13:48 pm »
Is anyone going to be around the Dallas-Fort Worth area this weekend?  Oct 7-8, Retropalooza V is happening at the Arlington Convention Center. It's down by the Ballpark at Arlington.  Come out!  See Kashell and myself.  Mr. Nikon couldn't make the trek.  It's 14 hours, so we'll give him a pass. It'll be cool to hang out!

You can find us at the Our Parents' Basement booth.  It'll be a blast!

What are some of those games that have eluded you in your hunt?  Not just something you kinda want or are on your radar, but games that you've been hunting for a while.

It may be those games that you search for a good price on.  Anyone of us can find Stadium Events or and NWC cart today if we have the cash to spend.  The internet made it easy to find stuff.

I searched for Snow Bros for the better part of a decade before I finally found it. I've been looking for Gargoyles for the Genesis for years and still haven't found it.

What are you still searching for?
