Modern Video Games / Re: Enjoying Smash Ultimate?
« on: April 04, 2019, 02:45:05 pm »
I like to play it with friends on occasion. I haven't played online or finished world of light. World of Light is way too long! Otherwise I love the roster and flow of play.

IDK, maybe someone was lazy? You could always petition a change I suppose.

I did mean free to play lol. No worries though. I don't know. Either way I find virus protection is pretty good at blocking anything shady. At least for me. In fact it even tends to block totally benign games sometimes. Just go install Avast and research anything before you install and you'll be protected pretty well right? That's how I see it.

Thinking of shady games stuff though I remember that shady as heck tool that was made to allow ps3 controllers. I forget the name though. DS3 tool? It was so weird cause apparently you had to stay connected to a server for it to function. Some people swore it had malware and others swore it didn't. I never did find out the truth.

Hmm, on the subject of old games. I run them on a virtual box with XP. Pretty safe and if anything were to happen to your virtual box you can hopefully wipe it without much losses. That usually solves any compatibility problems. ScummVM and VtMB unofficial patch are the only exceptions I can think of that I use. I do try to check reviews though, usually anything shady will have already been called out for it.

That has little with online FtP though, huh? When I hear that I think of free MMOs and such. Which I've never had issues with.

Off Topic / Re: Do You Use The Little Things Inside Bigger Technology?
« on: March 24, 2019, 10:55:16 pm »
It depends, I use a lot of traditional media for certain, simpler table-top RPGs just because it's a little simpler. However for big things I love my laptop to keep organized and moving quickly. Character sheets, counters, etc. can just be piled up and quickly switched between on pc. I also use my phone for alarms, calculator, counters, calendar, etc.  pretty often.

I feel I'm rather 50-50 over all. I don't use the social media on my phone too much though. Only for lining up my players. I also still buy physical books and such like that.

I think they're great, but people should be more wary of social media addiction and addictive f2p games.

I'm going to second that, but add my 2 cents. The sheer volume is overwhelming and can get frustrating in some shops where most of the games on shelf are just old sports titles and almost nothing else. It feels so demoralizing if you're looking for anything else. Also yeah, in this day and age just update your game. Don't make a new one each year.

I oft enjoy weird fiction inspired games, horror, slice of life, romance, adult, puzzles, management games, and j-music games.

I usually avoid modern and recent history war games (i prefer the sword, archery, and magic varieties), games with realistic looking graphics(I prefer stylized), normal racing games, and stealth 'em ups. I also dislike first person perspective.

Hmm.. yeah, it's hard to say why if you don't know the game. In Ragnarok if I go AFK it's either cause I'm waiting for someone to show up and want them to be able to find my afk avatar, because I'm buying/selling goods and don't want to hover in the meantime, or I might be waiting out some variety of timer in rare circumstances. Also, sometimes on priest I just hang out and randomly buff passer-bys who ask, but otherwise might look afk.

Off Topic / Re: Is music worth collecting to you?
« on: March 16, 2019, 12:25:42 pm »
I listen mostly to Japanese music so buying cds is the only way to get some music. A lot actually. Many songs aren't available to stream or even buy digitally. I don't have a record player though so my only vinyl was a VIP gift for a concert.

General / Re: What are your thoughts on buying loose discs?
« on: March 15, 2019, 05:44:42 pm »
Not often, but I have a couple times to save money. I think way back when I was in school I wanted ff7 and loose was all I could afford lol. I can't think of too much I bought loose otherwise. Well, not a disc but I got p4 golden discounted cause the case was lost. I also have loose games from my childhood, who knows where those cases went. *shrugs* I'm not the hardest core collector for all series I guess is the thing. I just prefer physical media.

General / Re: How Much Is One Hour of Video Game Time Worth?
« on: March 05, 2019, 11:01:16 am »
IDK but I feel like I'm going to be the one here who will say I'm totally okay spending $60 on a good game as short as ~10 hours. I can probably think of a few that I have. That'd place me as high as $6 an hour. I've also put good money into my small rhythm games collections even if they don't have the most content per dollar spent.

IDK I was browsing and some of their games cost 2-3x more than mp, there's no Vita section, and a lot of games are listed out of stock. They're maybe on par with a local retro game store if you don't have one where you live?

I mean in conclusion it really seems to depend on what you're planning on buying. I can't see myself getting a good deal there though.

« on: February 25, 2019, 12:45:46 pm »
I'm trying to crush some of my backlog. It's getting pretty bad. So I've decided to take on this challenge as well. It's quite interesting for me cause I tend to always have a few multiplayer endeavors at any time.

Games beaten in 2019 thus far:

Nightshade (PC)
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes (Switch)

Playing:
TWEWY Final Mix
KH3
Yakuza Kiwami
NMH 2
Catherine Classic
Little Busters
Some other VNs
Some other games
I'm pretty all over the place. That's why I'm doing this.

Modern Video Games / Re: What are your fave games of this gen?
« on: February 25, 2019, 12:23:41 pm »
I'm assuming 3ds is current gen? I feel like switch is mostly the home console. Also Including Vita.

Splatoon 2
Rune Factory 4
Project Diva Future Tone
Dragon Quest Builders
KH3
P4 Golden
FE Conquest
Super Mario Party
AC:NL

Though I'm not sure I'll also add that I think Yakuza Kiwami may go on this list when I'm done.
