Classic Video Games / Recommend a Good RPG on DS?
« on: December 29, 2012, 02:44:48 pm »
I need a good RPG on the DS to keep my attention for a while. I just picked up Final Fantasy III, but I'm really turned off by the sheer cutesiness of everything. Anything you guys could recommend that's not so "cutesy" looking?

And I already have Chrono Trigger.

General / What Are You 2013 Game Collecting Goals
« on: December 28, 2012, 10:13:47 pm »
This is a thread to post your 2013 collecting goals, and come back and report your progress on them as you complete your goals through the following year.

My 2013 collecting goals:

1. Obtain an Atari Lynx
2. Obtain a WORKING 3DO
3. I want to get some issues of Game Player's Magazine and Electronic Gaming Monthly from the 80s & 90s.
4. Work on my Saturn Collection (which seems harder and harder to do nowadays, the prices are getting insane)
5. Work on my pathetic (4 games right now) Nintendo DS collection. I traded many DS games away when Skyrim came out. Something I don't normally do, but it was an Elder Scrolls game and I was broke!

Games at the Top of My Wishlist:
-Breath of Fire (SNES)
-Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
-Castlevania: Bloodlines (Genesis)
-Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES)
-Contra: Hard Corps (Genesis)
-Chrono Cross (PS1)
-House of the Dead 2 (Dreamcast) - I do own it, but my copy ALWAYS glitches in level 2. You can't see the enemies but they still attack you. Yet the disc looks perfect, not a single scratch.
-Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super Heroes (Dreamcast)
-Panzer Dragoon: Zwei (Saturn)
-Twisted Metal 1 & 2 (PS1)

Video Game Database Discussion / Recent Additions to Database
« on: December 22, 2012, 03:23:23 pm »
I didn't see a thread for this, sorry if there already was one I didn't find it.

Thought it would be cool to have a thread to post your latest additions to the VGCollect database. This might help users know that stuff was added that they can now add to their collection/wishlist, since the latest additions sidebar only shows the last few.

I just added a bunch of "swag" and a few other things:

LCD Games:
-Coleco Head-To-Head Baseball
-Coleco Head-To-Head Basketball

PC (NA):
-Dungeons and Dragons Classic Anthology
-Super Huey III

Strategy Guides:
-WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw 2008 Signature Series Guide

Swag - Print Media (Books, Comics):
-2007 Video Game Price Guide
-The Art of Video Games
-Castlevania: The Belmont Legacy #1-5
-Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered the World
-God of War #1-6

-High Score!: The Illustrated History of Electronic Games

Site Feedback / "In Collection" Suggestion
« on: December 22, 2012, 11:45:31 am »
I saw this on GameSpot's collection part of your profile (however they're website is a pain in the butt to use practically for collection purposes).  I just thought it was neat and thought I'd suggest it here:

When you add a game to your collection or wishlist, next to the title listing it shows how many other users have it in their collection and/or wishlist. I just thought it was cool to see how popular or rare a game you have is compared to other users.

Site Feedback / Homepage With Updates
« on: December 20, 2012, 12:45:44 am »
I think it would be quite useful to have a VGCollect homepage. It would be great if it had the latest site updates, database additions, and buy/sell listings added on it. Might be cool to have a collection spotlight or maybe a list of the latest updated collections or something of the sort on there too. Plus a nice, welcoming image and/or banner to welcome newcomers.

Just a thought.

Off Topic / The Comic Book Thread
« on: December 20, 2012, 12:34:00 am »
Didn't see one here already when I did a search. Forgive me if there is one.

This is the comic book thread. This is the thread to share your love for comics, talk about the latest happenings in your favorite books, compare books to the movies, or to show off your collection or latest comic pick-ups.'

What type of comics are you into? What got you into comic books? What are some of your favorite books or characters?

I've been a comic collector for pretty much my entire life, or at least for as long back as I can remember. My dad was a comic book collector, so I was exposed to comics at a very young age. I started off looking at his comics. I remember in particular liking EC horror comics like Tales From the Crypt and Vault of Horror. I also really liked Superman and Captain Marvel (Shazam) comics. As I got into grade school it was the late 80s/early 90s and my comic tastes started becoming influenced by my classmates. X-Men, Spider-Man, and Venom were all the craze so I started getting into those comics. I also discovered Green Lantern about that time and I haven't stopped reading that book ever since.

Nowadays I pretty much stick to Marvel and DC Comics, with a few licensed titles here and there like Star Trek or Masters of the Universe or the occasional video game tie-in comic. I seem to have a liking for cosmic stuff in particular.

Some of my favorite books/characters:
-Avengers
-Justice League
-Justice Society of America
-Green Lantern
-Iron Man
-Nova
-Quasar
-Spider-Man
-Star Trek: The Next Generation
-Starman (Both Will Payton and Jack Knight)
-Superman
-Venom
-Warlock (Adam Warlock)
