I've gotten back into adding a bunch of new Steam / GOG entries, as well as recently bundled games. Not as much as I should, but it's something...

-Gamer
-Grandma's Boy

... I don't mean to be a downer, but what do those two movies have to do with videogames? I mean, they're -about- games, yes. But they have no relation to any real game whatsoever. They're not based on any property.

They're not about a particular game, but they are both most definetly about video games. They're as much of a video game movie as The Wizard is.

Grandma's Boy follows a development team and particular developer and his personal game.

Gamer is about a video game played with live people.

Not trying to bring you down either, burningdoom, but I always thought that Swag refers to pre-order bonuses or developer/publisher promos.  For example, the Thousand Arms soundtrack / behind-the-scenes CD that you get by mailing in the form inside of the case to Atlus or random Lego Batman character keychain by pre-ordering Lego Batman.  I understand they are video game-related, it's just that I don't think it's necessarily swag.

Please check out the games I have for sale.

I actually asked that very question before I added my first movie, Resident Evil. I was told as long as it's video game related, it goes.

But no problem. If people don't want the database additions, I'll stop. I just thought we all wanted a more complete database. Rather than the way the Swag section was before with stuff like the Street Fighter movie in it, but not Mortal Kombat; or only part of the City of Heroes comic series, but not all of it.

I was only asking. :|

^ Well, you're the admin. Final say does go to you.

Do video game based movies go in, or just strictly promotional items? And where would that leave review show DVDs like Angry Video Game Nerd, Classic Game Room, and Irate Gamer?

I would say that movies related to actual video game franchises would stay. But movies with just a video game centric plot would go.

Documentaries and the like, I don't have a problem with them staying.

Pretty much - I doubt anyone would ever try to argue that Advent Children (as a movie) doesn't belong.

I think that "swag" is  (probably intentionally) a vague & 'umbrella' type of category -and- the only "rule" that *I* follow when it comes to it is:

If *I* want to track it/count it as part of my collection; well...I do.

If not = I don't.

This gets tricky, too. I can see why people don't want Gamer and Grandma's Boy, since the games in those movies don't actually exist.

But what about The Wizard, which isn't about a particular game, but has lots of Nintendo stuff in it. Or how about a movie like Wreck-It-Ralph, that also isn't about a particular game, but has game characters in it?

But what about The Wizard Or Wreck-It-Ralph?

If *YOU* want to track them/count them as part of your collection; well...do so -

If *YOU don't want to = then don't

I'd agree, which is why I added video game movies to begin with, but I'm asking because Admin said this:

I don't know. The Wizard and Wreck-It-Ralph are strange cases. The Wizard is basically a giant commercial for Nintendo, where Ralph taps that nostalgia factor of older gamers by showcasing a ton of cameos by characters we all know and love.
