always leave room for expansion if you only plan to play modern games or programs, if you can get a good deal on the higher power supply then go for it. If your planing on building a modern gaming PC.

But note that A retro gaming PC don't need to be as fast
If you ever plan on playing older or retro video games than I suggest purchasing another slower computer for older video game. Sometimes the older video games cannot run on a high specs gaming PC without some kind of issues

(edit) remember to check your wall electric outlet. before you plug a modern gaming PC in to ensure you won't pop the circuit breaker or blow an electric fuse in your building indoor electric box

If you have a power strip plugged into an extension lead, as in one to make the reach go further with just one plug socket, is that safe?

Edit: Also if I did have power strips chained together, would it make a difference if the power strip is inside a protective plastic box? Or would it be the wall socket I'd need to worry about?

I would think both are not a good idea.. Power strips and Power Surge Protectors. Should be plugged in by themselves. Now this is what a fire Marshall told me. and he also told me if I remember correctly also not to have a electrical extension cord plugged into a power strip or surge protector. But he didn't say anything about using an extension cord in a wall socket by itself

it's the wall socket that may need some worry, also plastic can melt and also start a fire

I wanted to open up an advice thread and I don't care if this thread goes vary far

To Help Prevent Game Room Fires:
Here is some advice I learned from an actual Fire Marshall NEVER PLUG A POWER STRIP INTO ANOTHER POWER STRIP

I wanted to bring this to everyone attention since some of us recently saw what happened in another thread. This tip has to do with plunging in our game consoles and other electronics into electric power strips I noticed a lot of YouTubers have a TON of wiring in their game rooms. I know it is a pain in the ass to need to plug in our consoles when we use them then unplug them when we turn them off. But upon asking a fire Marshall. He told me that an electrical power strip is only safe if it's not plugged into another one or possibly used in the same outlet

1: Never plug more than 1 Power Strip into the same power socket it can cause a fire I was told from a Fire Department Marshall
2:(from me) run one console or PC at a time off the same wall socket or you can cause a power overload
3: (from me) Don't smoke in the game room because you can actually cause your console to have a sticky Nicotine build up inside of it's fans and console air vents

These are some of what I recommended. All subject is open to anyone opinions

Makes me wounder how a fire like this photo could have started. I just hope this don't happen to anyone else. We got to carefully and check our power cords often and after seeing  an Atari 2600/VCS in action and the Magnavox Odyssey reviews on YouTube I am afraid to own one. afraid it would cause a fire

his house fire could have been caused by anything. and most times a fire will just happen out of nowhere. Like how an entire house in my neighborhood burned to the ground because the fire department refused to put the fire out. They only prevented the next door house from burning down instead.

Sometimes you in worse luck if you live in a rural town or in a dry forest

I recommend a sound card also. A sound card takes some of the stress off the CPU processor. Since the sound card produces it's own sound instead of depending on the mother board for the CPU sound capabilities. besides a the right sound card can make the gaming experience more deeper and 3D sometimes.

It's a tiny upgrade usually. and without a sound card your computer takes up a little more RAM to run things when playing video games and other duties.

But to most people it's a waste of money. Most people agree that motherboard audio is better and cheaper.

(GOOGLE)
Sound cards will improve the sound quality of your system, but if you don't have the appropriate speakers or headset, you will never notice the difference. ... Onboard audio (the audio that comes with your motherboard) is by no means bad in any way, and for most people, it is more than enough for everyday use.

If anyone is interested in playing the Sims 3 and it's many expansions make sure to download the free "Create A World Tool" from the sims 3 website also. But you may need to download one of the expansions from origin in order to get a registration code that you'll need to legally access the world creator as with creating a The Sims 3 account

This game is a flop in my opinion unless you build with the CAW tool

Off Topic / Stuck In Your Memory Any Kind Of AD Or Commercial
« on: September 25, 2018, 08:14:42 am »
I got a funny memory of this one infomercial that was quite popular a few years back called The Brazil Butt Lift. Does anyone remember this ad on TV? they also said in that infomercial that Brazil is the land of the butts. But I won't get into that part too much. There are some pretty bad television ads out there as well as 1-2 hour long YouTube ads also.

Does anyone remember an ad maybe it was for a video game trailer. I also remember the PlayStation 1 ads and how they went back to the robotic (PlayStation) voice that they had in during the 1990's for there more recent PlayStation 4 ads

Maybe you would like to share an ad you thought was stupid or funny?

Has anyone ever thought about a video game. that you can do anything you could do in just about any other video game. (in one video game) It is a scary thought. If possible One video game that could surpass every genre in existence. and could vary well be a video game that lets  you do everything you could possible in millions of other video games. (But this don't exist yet)
9-25-2018

imagine an open world video game that is so huge you could practically do or play anything in this one game. you could in any other video game on the market. I can see this games skeleton in The Sims 3 games for PC.

imagine if that game actually let you take full control of a video game character and add a features where you can control your person or people while they actually play in a sports stadium. or control the game character while they work in the office building and see them working. The closest game on the market today as far as I seen to becoming the master game would be the sims 3 series on PC

Unfortunate for other gaming companies whoever makes that master game will put everyone else out of a job in the gaming industry

PARTIAL QUOTE FROM SEETHER
Have you ever played something and thought 'damn this is better than anything that came before and any other game coming out right now'?

As far as the topic question, no. But as far as your second question, yes.

When I first played The Sims 1 for PC there was nothing like it, still nothing like it on the market in what I know except other The Sims games in the main 4 or 5 series now. In fact if one tried you could make one huge video game based off just the Sims 3 series engine alone, by just adding to the game it could easily be a sports game an RPG an action game in fact if one wanted they could even make one master game with it. easily could be any kind of game period

Modern Video Games / Re: How important are graphics to you?
« on: September 25, 2018, 01:45:36 am »
I'll say, that bad graphics or sound is better than no graphics or/and no sound. the Magnavox Odyssey was a 1st generation gaming console that didn't have no sound and no tv picture. Instead of graphics the Magnavox Odyssey had plastic board game like overlays. When the console was on and plunged in to the television. A light showed in the background among the static, behind the overlay and that was your graphics. And you had to make up your own noises for sound.

But the 1972 Magnavox Odyssey is too old in my opinion and I am afraid that an actual Atari 2600 or any kind of Magnavox Odyssey would start a fire if I plugged it in.

If anyone asks the 1978 Atari 2600/VCS is a 2nd generation home video game  console. considered one of the first home consoles that could be hooked to a television set with any kind of graphics and any kind of digitized sound.

In short graphics don't matter to me but gameplay does.

Is there a generation that is not looked back fondly?

Someone today might find Pong boring, but if you were there it was something novel and exciting. I dare you to find some who lived through that era who dislikes Pong.

THE REPLY:

I play PONG often and recently. I really like the original PONG it's a relaxing game but I never grew up in it's era being the 1970's and early 1980's

But I play with the single player version of PONG Arcade on my PlayStation 2 Atari Anthology not the original PONG that used dials and didn't have a computer opponent

I have learned that judging by the cover is usually the correct call. This is the best Banjo player-simulator I have ever played. The moonshine making mini-game was surprisingly deep.

Lol vary unexpected ;D

so this is some kind of rhythm  game I assume? Someone else also made a mention of this Super Nintendo game and they pointed out it was not a space shooter like it says on the cover art lol :)

An old saying goes (You Can't Judge A Book By It's Cover!) But have you ever judged a video game by it's cover art? Unfortunately I have before many times and I missed out on some great games I found to be nothing like I expected, sometimes I missed out completely. Like on the early Fallout game because I judged the game poorly by it's box art and didn't think it would run on my PC back in the day. Of course most PC games back in the day would either not run at all or crash while you played the game. Mostly crashing was an issue on 1990's PC's in spite of how much they costed used to crash video games more often in the mid 1990's. :(

So? have you ever judged a video game by it's cover art?
lets say you saw a retro or maybe even a modern video game, that you never heard of or played before
