Box art for Mutants Unleashed is now out and it looks awesome.

PS5 version box art: https://www.target.com/p/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-mutants-unleashed-playstation-5/-/A-91550311

It's also worth nothing that a Google search of the full title features this thread as the eighth result.

Update:
I guess Target revealed it early last night because it has just been revealed officially. The game will also have a season pass.

While not announced, another retail listing lists the release date as Friday, October 18th. That doesn't seem like a random placeholder date to me.

General / IGN just acquired a ton of their competitors

IGN Entertainment has acquired the Gamer Network family of digital brands for an undisclosed sum.

Gamer Network’s publications include GamesIndustry.biz, Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247, and Dicebreaker. The business also holds shares in Outside Xbox, Digital Foundry, and Hookshot (which operates Nintendo life, Push Square, Pure Xbox, and Time Extension).

IGN Entertainment is the division of Ziff Davis that includes IGN, MapGenie, HowLongtoBeat, and Humble Bundle. It has acquired the brands from PAX and New York Comic-Con organizer ReedPop, which initially bought the Gamer Network business in 2018.

Not included in the sale are UK-based events EGX or MCM, or the digital brand Popverse.
I personally check out Push Square, Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox daily. GamesIndustry.biz and Digital Foundry are both pretty important. Eurogamer is pretty big in its own right.

Hardware and Tech / Re: What Was Your Longest Lasting PC Computer
« on: May 16, 2024, 12:41:17 am »
I'm posting from a decade old MacBook Air. Still going strong. Not a PC I guess though.

I had a Gateway computer from like 2003 till.. 2015? The monitor died and was replaced years prior to 2015. Replaced the Gateway with a secondhand eMachines laptop that lasted like three or four years after I obtained it. It was probably about that old when I got it.

Unfrosted was a pretty fun movie. Seems like it's getting crapped on and it also seems like it has less to do with the movie and more to do with something Jerry said on the promo tour. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For reference, below is the aforementioned quote from Jerry Seinfeld:

Quote
Nothing really affects comedy. People always need it. They need it so badly and they don’t get it,” Seinfeld said. “It used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, ‘Oh, “Cheers” is on. Oh, “MASH” is on. Oh, “Mary Tyler Moore” is on. “All in the Family” is on.’ You just expected, ‘There’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.’ Well, guess what—where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and P.C. crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people.

Both before and after reading part of Seinfeld's recent interview, I've not been interested in his latest movie Unfrosted. Generally, I'm not drawn to comedy films, and I wouldn't find it controversial to say it's the most subjective and divisive film genre within itself due to varying tastes. With that said, Seinfeld's quote regards network television, not film.

To me, Seinfeld's stance is very much a "back in my day" point-of-view from the 70-year-old man that he is. Hearing something like this from him specifically isn't surprising given he has a history of opposing beliefs to popular social attitudes for a number of years, which, again, shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that a billionaire is out-of-touch with society. Despite Seinfeld's opinion, co-creator to Seinfeld Larry David is one (but perhaps the most direct) example of an antithesis to such claims, given how popular Curb Your Enthusiasm is despite its controversial scenario writing.

I noticed I posted this in the wrong thread since this is a movie and not a show. I guess I saw Netflix and didn't think.

I'm saying the negative reaction to the last part of the quote led to people crapping on the movie more than the movie's quality itself. Other factors may include Jerry and Amy Schumer being very pro-Israel when it isn't the popular choice amongst young people. It's also not the best defense using Curb and the other one I've seen used elsewhere It's Always Sunny since Curb started in 1999 and Sunny in 2005. Those shows are grandfathered in now. Not to mention Sunny has had multiple episodes removed from streaming for being offensive. Searching "seinfeld" on Reddit yields many unflattering results and a quick look at the Letterboxd reviews for Unfrosted shows many are completely off-topic.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is apparently 30fps as well. What was the point of the current gen again? PS4 Pro and One X already output 4K so it wasn't that.

I saw that the lead or one of the team was talking about "cinematic quality" or something to justify the framerate, which makes zero sense being that movies are at 24, not 30, and also doesn't work being that the PC version will run at a higher framerate.  Like I know they can't just come out to say the hardware isn't powerful enough to do the higher framerate for the game with how they prioritized visuals/resolution, but performance to me always matter more to me.  Anymore, I only deal with 30fps on Switch games, but it's a thing of expectations too, where I know Switch is lesser hardware and also I feel more cartoony graphics aren't as problematic when it comes to the lower FPS/resolution.  It only bothers me when the FPS tanks and it's like a Pokemon Scarlet/Violet situation where the game is both pretty ugly and has bad framerate problems.
High framerates aren't a selling point for Switch like it is for Series X where they mention 120fps five times ont he product page.

I've been meaning to watch the 1995 Casper movie for most of my life. I finally did and it sure is weird.
