It's the spooky season, but I haven't been in a huge horror mood lately, so rather than dive into something proper dark and horror related, went for something more lighthearted with the first Addam's Family movie.  I remember liking these movies back in the day and the first movie is still a lot of fun.  Every joke is just "Well that sounds horrible...that's wonderful!", but the absurdity is what makes it entertaining I think.  It's not meant to be taken seriously and it's all just silly.  I'll probably watch the sequel too.

They’re both surprisingly good, and I’d dare say the sequel is the better of the two.  It balances the characters better and the plot is much more fun.  It also has one of my absolute favorite moments of physical acting.

Watched El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie and it was a fine movie.  I wish I had rewatched Breaking Bad for this as I was kinda forgetting some of what happened as it's been 6 years since the show ended.  I can see why this wasn't given a lot of fanfare and build, because it's really not a big film.  It's not here to reveal all sorts of new information or tell a new story, it's just a nice little bow to tie up the last details dealing with Jesse, an extended episode as an epilogue.  Nothing more, nothing less, but it was kinda nice seeing the cast return for this as I haven't watched more than like a season or two of Better Call Saul.  This is purely for the fans to get an extra bit of closure.

Yeah these two movies are just a fun, weird, time.  I'm not sure if I liked either one over the other, they kinda follow similar ideas really, weird how they made them mostly about Fester, but still entertaining.  It's kind of a shame to hear that the new cartoon movie they did wasn't very good, making it more for young kids and pulled back on a lot of the dark comedy.  It would be interesting to see them try and do a proper new live action movie like the 90's films were, though I know there is technically a third film, just with all new actors in the roles.  Looks real cheap and poor, but it's got Tim Curry in it, so I kinda just want to see it for that lol

It's October, so I'm back to watching a Horror (or Halloween adjacent) movie ever day.  Here's where I currently stand:

Oct. 1: The Ritual
Oct. 2: Terrifier
Oct. 3: Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday*
Oct. 4: Mama
Oct. 5: A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Oct. 6: Event Horizon*
Oct. 7: Prophecy
Oct. 8: Castle Freak
Oct. 9: The Void
Oct. 10: Ginger Snaps
Oct. 11: Black Christmas (1974)*

* seen the film before

The best new one for me so far is Mama and the worst is Terrifier

This was one of those movies as a kid that I used to watch, finish, rewind, and then watch again. I loved Nightmare Before Christmas, however despite that, it's been probably close to 2-decades since I last watched this masterpiece. Even as an adult I still found myself charmed by this film and in aww of its attention to detail, as well as how original and creative the whole movie is. I'm typically not one for musicals, but I enjoy most of the songs, and even the ones I don't care for as much still compliment each scene they take place in. I know there is a debate as to whether this is a Christmas or Halloween movie, and rewatching it I struggled to decide this for myself. In the end its horror themes even during the Christmas parts make it more of a Halloween movie more than anything for me. Nightmare Before Christmas oozes with quality and it makes me sad that it took me this long to rewatch it. I can definitely see why my 7-year old self was briefly obsessed with this movie, and even now my 32-year old self finds it incredible even under a more objective, cynical eye.
