It may be incorrect, but this was a search term I was able to get results for
ロックマンエグゼ プラグインペット 熱斗
We need more information before making the games category because it seems there is a regular and Advanced version but I do not know if that means the games are different. Here are some YAJ links

And of course YAJ is better at matching to related items right on that page

News / Re: Big Category changes
« on: May 10, 2024, 12:11:24 pm »
Some smallish changes worth mentioning.

Philips Accessory/Console changed back to CD-i Accessory/Console. This had to be done because Philips and Magnavox both have various consoles in different families. As a result, Philips in2it gets its Console category back, and made new one for Philips Tele-Game Consoles. Unlike in2it, the Tele-Game has many different console released but it seems we only have 1 entry made so far.

Magnavox Odyssey/2 merged into one, but as previously mentioned, we can't have a Magnavox named cat for Accessory/Console, so it has been changed to Odyssey. Now all Odyssey consoles go into one place, which (apprently) includes their dedicated consoles which were already in the old Odyssey 1 section.

And I'd like to point out that currently because we have some categories for Computers and they are labelled to a manufacturer, technically it is allowed to make entries for x86/compatible systems in there. I think there is already a couple in the Commodore section. Eventually I will make a dedicated section for x86/IBM Compatibles and this is for a couple of reasons:
1. We already allowed computers that were micros
2. We already had a section for Apple II computers
3. We already had sections for other computers where gaming is not their primary function or reason for existing (let us not forget that Clive Sinclair hated the fact that the ZX Spectrum became known as a gaming computer when he made it for business)
4. All of the above was already in-place in the db before I came aboard.

So it is only my list (in the far future) to add the other mainstays of computing, IBM compatibles and Mac but not CP/M, Unix or Terminal systems (despite the fact the original video games ran on mainframes). So you won't be able to put a Cray onto your wishlist anytime soon. But if we are lucky, perhaps we can expand into PDAs or those types of portables since we now track PalmOS and PocketPC games. And perhaps even after that we can think about adding mobile phone categories.

These last few parts are all on my list, but my list if very large so no promises on a timetable. ;)

Added the category for Ohio Art Accessory

Can't make changes to Nintendo category naming conventions, Jason reserves this right. So this is why I'd say Famicom Network System should be used because we aren't going to change the other cats to match if we called it Family Computer. I have made the "Famicon Network System" sub-cat in NES/Famicom.

Also, I'd put the Dataship 1200 into NES/Famicom Consoles section. I don't think the fact that you can't put carts into it matters as it is still a Famicom. If the add-on comes with a game, then it would be put into the game category and not the accessory category.

That Ohio Art item, is it not the console?

For the Sharp and NEC items, we already have a similar situation with the Psion Series 3. So I can make categories in PDA section for the games but the systems won't get entries. And to make sure we are clear, only the games can get entries and not the non-game software.

Famicom Network System would be treated no differently than say the Sega 32X. The add-on goes into Accessory and the software would get their own sub-cat. You think "Famicom Network System" is a good enough name for those cards? And in the case of the non-game cards, since the Famicom is a console (and not a computer) you can make the entries for the non-game cards.

I know about the Piece already, Macaw45 has one. It can go into Hardware other.

The TIC-80 and Pico-8 are not consoles.
TIC-80 appears to be an emulator that runs on Retroarch and you can run special roms on it.
Pico-8 appears to be similar, but it runs on Raspberry Pi
Uzebox is like the Arduboy, which is used to create a system. The individual parts can be put into Hardware Other, but complete systems often are not allowed because they are home-made and not sold products.

The games for all of these cannot be listed at this time. I want to be able to track all games (that can be played) and all things that a game can be played on but I'm still waiting on whether that is allowed. The games for those emulators (and whatever runs on Uzebox and Arduboy) are just roms. Which you could say are similar to PC Digital Download except for consoles. But right now until roms and/or browser games can be listed and we have worked out a way to show them on the site, non-traditional console roms are going to be gatekept.

The light guns can be put into Interactive Video Consoles. Captain Power ships can be put into there too.

An aside regarding these is that the toy itself was featured in multiple episodes of the Transformers Headmasters cartoon as an actual weapon.

17. Dragon Age: Origins
Time played was 44 hours, and I had started this over a month ago but I had taken some breaks. I was super hooked on Heroes of Might & Magic III that I was spending big hours on playing that. I had to get to a point where I basically had run out of things to do with that because I kept going back to it. I'm still not going to bother with the campaigns but I had put in 381 hours since the beginning of the year or whenever I had put that on my list.

Back to DAO, it is a fine game. Has too much lore and I just am not that into delving into game lore like I did in Morrowind. Even when Skyrim came out I didn't care about reading the books like the previous games. So the codex was something I'd only look at when I needed a break. Nice to see the choices matter type in this game. Moreso that it can effect your party. I didn't look into spoilers because in general I did not run into many situations where I didn't know what to do next. Like I killed Wynne in the mage tower and didn't know until later she could have been recruited. I never ran into Zevran that I am aware of. Some in-game choices can make a party member rebel such as some choice I made where the chantry rogue decided to side with an enemy in a dungeon. Or when I spare Loghain and Alistair decided to just leave.

Issue with the ability for party members to rebel is that you get to gear them, so if that happens they are going to be using good items. The Chantry girl didn't have anything good yet but Alistair did. I always had in the back of my mind to try to bribe Alistair with gifts because I wasn't sure if I could beat him in a fight. Until I got to a point where I knew he couldn't beat me is when I stopped caring whether he liked me or not.

Sound and music was fine. Story was fine. The only big issue with story was the ending where it said someone had died but I never did the quest to kill them. I only played the Origins part and have not yet done the additional content that comes with the remaster or whatever, including the expansion pack. It did get me to watch that Dragon Age BD I've had for awhile and it makes me a bit more interested in the other games.

Atari computer sections reorganized completely. Instead of media-based categories, now have system based so it matches everything else.

Atari 400/800
https://vgcollect.com/browse/atari800
Atari XL series
https://vgcollect.com/browse/atarixl
Atari XE series

I didn't post here, but C64 also changed away from media based to regional based.

The barcode on the back art on https://vgcollect.com/item/258679
ends in 65
You can open this link directly in your browser
https://vgcollect.com/images/back-box-art/258679.jpg
Use Ctrl+Scroll wheel to move to say, 300% and you should be able to tell the last two digits.

Alternatively what can be done is to take 2 images from Ebay (or whatever) and resize/shape/crop them and shrink them down to 200px width and compare them to the image on the site. One will be close or will match and one won't. That is the only real way to tell which barcode is on a small image that is on the site, but sometimes JPEG compression makes it difficult.

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Release Country TLD Master List
« on: April 24, 2024, 10:38:00 am »
TLD is for the country the item is sold in, not what language is present. There is no default.

So, (Spanish cover), (Latin America), Back Code ID, anything? This needs a very specific rule, considering that the distribution chain in Latin America has always been scattered for this kind of products (My job is logistics related to the area).

No I mean there is no default TLD. Descriptors like you put above (Spanish cover, Latin America) cannot be used.
If you don't know a country the game is sold in, you can use a descriptor but the descriptor should be some sort of number that is different. I just used the back number because the only other entry was the MX version and there was no US version with that name in the category.

That is fine. I just changed the MX one to use the same reference for descriptor so for now it is easier than to figure out the country.
https://vgcollect.com/item/217221

Then how should it be done for upcoming NA releases, since there could be up to 5 versions in the region: USA (ESRB, English), Canada (ESRB, English/French), Brazil (English and/or Portuguese, ClassInd), Mexico (Spanish, SMECCV), and the rest of Latin America (English and/or Spanish, ESRB)? Do we still default Latin America for old releases (pre-SMECCV) as MX (English and/or Spanish, ESRB), unless specified in the box, and something new for the rest of the region?

TLD is for the country the item is sold in, not what language is present. There is no default.

Should it go with a (Spanish cover) descriptor or something?

No.

What country did you buy it in? You would search the used market in that country to verify other copies have the same qualities as yours.

I found an Argentina version that has a back number of 3006527-AC and UPC of 711719547624 as well as a "Sony Argentina" import label. At least it seems that the back number may be unique between versions, as it does not match your pictures.

I can't find the one in your pictures but I only searched in Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Costa Rica.
