There is a lot of database work to do in terms of correcting data, but there are only so many people contributing such changes and, especially in regards to digital entries, there is not any urgency to correct them.

Yes, going through a digital category is extremely tedious and boring. I went through the Steam category once, so I'm speaking from experience here.

I always found it weird that game entries on Gog don't actually have the game art (that we are looking for) on the game pages. They can show up, but the art we want is from their store listings. Like this one:

The game cover art is only visible on the item in the "Buy Series" section. So this would probably also show up in search results or a store browing page on their site.

Other games that aren't in a series, the art isn't on the page at all like this one:

DB Mods can be more stringent on these things than me. 
I probably accepted a "wrong" art edit from you today actually. 

PS: thanks for the work you do try to help us with kidtdragon. I know you do (did? I ghosted lol) a lot on shmax also, sites like these can only exist with the work of volunteers.

I don't know the status of the API. I do not believe the endpoints are exposed nor is there any public documentation available for it.

I don't think that time goes by faster or even seems so. I think it is in relation to how memory and recognition works. We tend to do things systematically (or via habits) that we may not even realise that is the case. Things you do by way of habit can have the effect of "not being remembered" per se when you do them. Think about those times when you ask yourself "Did I lock the door before I left? I remember locking the door or do I remember locking the door in the past?" Similarly memories that you have of your past, such as your childhood, are more likely memories of memories that you had. You remember remembering and do not necessarily remember the actual past.

How this relates to time going by faster is if you are not encountering new experiences, the brain doesn't necesssarily need to store that memory because it is already present. And as a result you only need to functionally remember less and this somehow seems to effect our perception of time.

That's my theory anyways.

Note: Regarding this one, Grumpyface developed Steven Universe: Save the Light, while Capybara games did OK K.O! Let's Play Heroes. Which one takes priority?

Well we can only put one on there, so you just have to pick one. The one that you pick for the entry, you can put the other credit into description.
However, when it comes to something like this, it may be that we would want to indicate the developer of the part of the software that both of these games sit on. I don't know how the actual game data is constructed or how the UX is. For example, does this game boot into a menu first and you can pick which game to play?
An analogy to this would be compilation games that use a menu you can pick from many.  For example a situation like this:

Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits, where the individual games are developed by Williams, but the menu system that you launch the games from was developed by Digital Eclipse.

Of course if you do not know who actually developed the underlying menu/software that these two games are launched from, or it isn't really known, then you can just do the pick one/document the other situation. If we do know who developed the launcher and it is different than the devs of the two games, we would want that dev in that spot, then you could put the devs of the two individual games in the description.

Just wait until the day you realise your generation turned into your parents' generation without you knowing it. That happened to me recently (about a week ago) and it was strange realisation since I don't actually consider myself to be part of my generation despite actually being in it. The people I interact with on an almost daily or weekly basis, or the people I hang out with are all generally younger than me, by 10-20 years. Working in an arcade does that I guess. I don't feel my age or look it based on what people tell me. Being an arch meme lord of the internet and a survivor of the great forum wars keeps me in touch with how younger people act and talk and behave. Typically people tend to stay in their age group more due to entering into the work force where you are more likely to interact with people around your age or older.

People naturally settle down in life and become less active. When you get into your 30s you are probably not going partying anymore and do not have as active of a lifestyle. If you are a man, you are less likely to keep up your appearance, especially if you have gotten married and/or had kids, because you are no longer in the social competition space. You end up getting those random aches and pains because your brain doesn't keep up with your lifestyle. Maybe you are not exercising the same way you did, if you played sports or were generally active in one way or another. But your brain will still remember how you could do certain things and you will still try to do things the same way even though your body will have changed. They are an indicator that you need to change a behaviour, either get back into shape or what usually happens, make adjustments to your life to try to prevent those aches and pains.

The best way to come to terms with it is just live your life. Everyone gets to experience getting older, and you have the opportunity to make the best of it.

News / Official Fallback Forum

A temporary/fallback forum is now available in the event VGCollect is down or otherwise not accessible.

This forum is actively managed by myself and has public status sections for the three websites that I am providing temporary forums for.
The fallback boards are not visible to the public and are not segregated, meaning if you can see a board, you can post in it if you want.
The sections will always be open, even if the hosted site has an Up status.
VGCollect and Neo-Geo are facing the same issues right now where AI bots are exhausting server resources and bringing the site down or making it slow.
Some of you already know about the Neo-Geo forum, so you may not want to go into that section which is fine.

This forum is not intended to, nor can it replace VGCollect forum.
It is also not meant to be a replacement for other unmanaged or unofficial meatup destinations such as any Discord channels, Steam or Facebook groups.
It simple is a place to go in case there is a problem or you want to get info about whatever might be happening.
I have limited reach with my X account in communicating issues.
This is not an indication that there is any longevity issue with VGCollect.
The forum uses a newer version of the SimpleMachines forum software that you are using here so the transition shouldn't be difficult.

Whether you decide to register on it or not is up to you.
This post is just to make you aware that it exists.
You choose your own level of involvement.

If you decide to register, you should edit your profile to put your VGCollect name in the appropriate profile field. Doing so will cause a VGCollect icon appear on your info card when you post in a thread.

You created blank entries and the blanks were deleted.
Likely culprit, you tried to include images that were too large or the wrong format.

On the developer aspect, I would rather consider that to mean that the developer is unknown. The publisher also may be considered the same. I would say that for now to leave those options blank until some day there can be some confirmation. We'd rather have no information than wrong information. I don't particularly like the idea of guessing when it comes to these kinds of things.

We're going to need a reference on this one. UMC manufactured the Gamate after Bit Corp and also games, but I see no indication that they were actually a Developer or Publisher.
