Post by: theflea on August 01, 2015, 05:27:42 pm
Looks like I'll start a new thread for pick ups.  ;)

Had a great luck at the garage sales, and found 1 game that sells for well over $100.  :o

First the store/online buys...

- Palutena

These where all on sale for $10-$15 brand new.
XBone

- Skylanders Giants (Starter set) ($5)

PS3
- Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend (sealed $5)

Wii
Saw this at a used game store for $30 and couldn't saw no.  :P
- Tatsunoko VS. Capcom Arcade FightStick

GC
Did a trade with a fellow VGcollector.
- Super Smash Bros. Melee (JP)

I've been hunting for this for a while but they always where going for way more for then I wanted to spend. It's in great shape, Box is a little beat up and it has an adapter. It's the first Nintendo Game System made in 1977.
- Nintendo Color TV Game 6

Now on to the garage sales...

The first sale I went to on Thursday advertised Super Nintendo, I got to the sale almost an hour early but the sale already opened and two of the resellers already got there and took everything. sigh...

Stopped at a sale that had a stack of PS2/Wii sport games, they originally wanted $3 a piece but I got them for $1 a piece. SO I grabbed what I was missing in my collection.

On Friday I only hit about 10 sales, and this last sale I hit before going to go stand in line to get Dark Pit. It was the classic "Little Old Lady sale" I asked about games and the lady said her husband had a Sega. She goes in to ask him and she comes back out and says sorry it wasn't a Sega it was PS3. Then her husband comes out (a little old man) asking me if I was interested in PS3 games? I told him "sure, I'll take a Look" and he comes out with a box. I look inside and it's full of PS1 games and Strategy guides, there was a few PS2/PS3 games too. I pick out many games/guides and we agree to $25. I only had $10 on me so I had him bag it up and I was going to rush to the bank. But at the last second he said he had more, but he wasn't sure he wanted to sell them. He goes inside and brings out a stack of PS1 and PS2 games. He first shows me a bunch of Final Fantasy games but he said he was a huge fan of them and acted like he didn't want to sell them. Then I saw the stack of Suikoden Games.  :o I had to really offer a lot to get him to sell them, he agreed to sell the 5 games for $55. So I left to get the $80 and when I get back I hand him the money and was happy to get out with these games & guides.
- A Mario Paint Guide
PS1
- Beyond the Beyond (with guide)
- Wild Arms (with guide)
- Wild Arms 2 (with Guide)
- Dragon Valor
- Arc the Lad (Complete)
- Suikoden II (with Guide)  ;D
PS2
- Arc the Lad (with Guide)
- Suikoden III
- Suikoden IV (with Guide)
- Suikoden V (with Guide)  ;D
- Suikoden Tactics Guide
Now when I made this deal Suikoden Tactics was in this deal, I remember putting it in the bag before I left to get the money. But when I looked through the bag today, The Guide was there, but the game was missing. I looked everywhere, In the car, the house, you name it and it's nowhere to be found. I'm thinking he took it out of the bag when I got the money. (sigh) At least it was the cheapest of the Suikoden games that went missing.  :-\

After the move to my new house I kinda got outta the habit of doing the My 8-Bits. One of these nights I'll try and do them again.  ;)
The Nintendo Color TV Game is in the same group with the Pong Games. Because that's pretty much all it is. A Nintendo Brand Pong Clone that was only released in Japan. They made 3 Versions, a Color TV 6, Color TV 15 and the Color TV Block Kuzushi.

As a former Animal control officer, I find it amusing that the one game that got left in the car was the dog game.  :P

So my old Xbox 360 was starting to get worse. Sometimes I'd have to open and close the disc drive 20 times before it read any game. So I decided it was time for a new one. So I bought a Slim from a guy and it came with 8 games that I didn't have. 130€ for it all

And yesterday I went into a local video rental store and they sold some cheap games for 1€ each. I got five games which interested me and I wanted. Gears of War 2 is the limied edition one with an extra disc so it's ok to have no cover  ;D

Got this brand-new at the 99-Cent Store...no joke. Unfortunately, they didn't have the Sneak King one. (I once got a cards/slots XBox game there a few years back, too.)

Sneak King? I think my local US dollar store still has copies. You want one? I can get it for you for actual cost. :)

If I came across it for a dollar, I'd snatch it up. But I don't want it bad enough to pay for shipping, too. Thanks, though.

Have fun! That was my first DQ game, and I enjoyed it (though never finished it). Have played several of the others and enjoyed all of them as well :)

My first Dragon Quest was Dragon "Warrior" (the western title) on the NES.  Got it free with a Nintendo Power subscription.

Man...I'm old.   :(

Nice scores on the RPGs! I need to round out my SaGa library...

Thank you!  I've always loved the old Squaresoft RPG's.  The SaGa games were great and I've never played Unlimited or Romancing.  Looking forward to messing around with those.

I'm going to focus on getting the last 11 Squaresoft games I need for the PS1, then pick up the odd title here & there I need for PS2.  Eventually, I want to get all the Final Fantasy, SaGa and Legend titles for the NES, SNES, GameBoy/Color/Advance, etc.

Nothing really interesting, just FF X, a copy of Aggressive Inline with the box and manual, Need For Speed Most Wanted Black Edition, and a manual for the copy of Half Life I found at Goodwill a couple months ago.

Let me know if the image is too big, imgur didn't resize it.

Uh, don't get too hyped for Unlimited SaGa.  It was the only RPG rental I remember getting and trying and giving up on after about 1 hour of yelling, "What the hell am I even supposed to do? How does that work? What is that wheel? Is this a battle system of some sort?" etc.  The game makes no sense to me.  But part of me wants to go back to it to try it to see if it makes any more sense now that I'm older, haha.

LOL...I'll temper my excitement.  In any event, it's one more of the "SaGa" games checked off my list.   :P

Unlimited Saga was not well-received outside of Japan, receiving mostly low to average scores from critics. Electronic Gaming Monthly simply declared: "This game sucks. Unlimited Saga exemplifies everything that's wrong with RPGs today and throws it all together in one deluxe package for all to avoid like the plague."[20] Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine largely agreed, stating that the game "ruined the SaGa franchise" with its "excruciating difficulty, obtuse mechanics, a stifling lack of freedom, and a brutal mission structure that punishes you as often as it rewards you."[34] GameSpot called it "simply unpleasant to play", calling the gameplay "irksome" and remarking that "[t]he reel system is interesting in theory, but in practice it's just an annoyance".[24] The website would additionally pan the game's "incredibly nonsensical" story and voice acting that ranges from "decent to really bad."

Unlimited Saga was a shipwreck. I hate telling people to avoid certain games because people have different opinions and blah-de-blah but, yeah...awful game. I only know of one person who really enjoys it. I'm sure there is something there when you finally get it, but getting to that point is an absolute nightmare.

Great music, though.

Haha, yeah, I read that back when the title resurfaced in my brain, when I was wondering if it really was as bad as I remembered.  After I read that bit above, I was like, "Oh, ok, it wasn't just me, lol."  But I'm still tempted to give it another go considering how bad it's supposed to be!  ::)

One of the sellers at the flea market brought a ton of PS2, Gamecube and Xbox games, and she was selling them for $2 a pop, but every game I checked was either sunfaded, scratched to hell, or missing the disc. :( I ended up grabbing a single thing from that booth.

PlayStation Interactive CD Sampler Disc Vol. 7 - $1
The other CD was bought at a booth for a quarter. I also got three CD-Rs, one of which had Windows XP and a key written on it, the other had Half-Life and a key written on it, and the third was labeled "games" and had a bunch of cracked games on it. I dunno if the keys work, but I figured I'd give it a shot. :P

Picked up Einhander and Xenogears, both complete and near mint last night. Scratch two more off my Top 10 list.  ;D

Also picked up Heroes of Ruin and Project X Zone in great condition for the 3DS.

Finally, added a PlayStation 1 7501 model to my collection.  Weird...I actually owned it and it was just sitting there in a drawer.   ???  I chalk it up to old age and too many games.   ;D

A couple of months ago saw for the first time the game Conquest of the Crystal Palace (http://Conquest of the Crystal Palace) for the NES at one of Norm's review, totally felt in love with this title that I decided to add it into my collection, saw it at Mercado Libre without a photo in a sellers store with bad reputation where he claims that he didn't had a camera at hand to share some previews of it but since the game was on sell for only $ 15 bucks and he was the only one at ML to have it decided to give it a try, today I received this little fella in a very nice condition with a shiny and complete label, even with it original box, just need some tips in how to properly remove the Galavideo logo without damaging the cartridge  ;D

Yes, I did see a gameplay before the purchase and didn't saw a password option neither a save state, the dude that played this one at Youtube was getting mad at the last levels cause the enemies and the stages were getting harder, it seems that it's one of those titles of trial and error were you need to know were to land, attack and jump to progress through the labels, will try tonight and will leave my comments tomorrow  ;)

In the same boat as Soera, waiting for some craigslist deals to finish!

Also no offense Flea but I hate every time you post a find because all of those games are technically within arms reach for me too  >:(

lol
No offense taken.  :P
One of these days we'll have to meet up and you can ride along and see first hand how I get my finds.  ;)

Just got an extremely rare game console in the mail yesterday, it's so rare I can't find any games for it.  :-\
I'll show it in my next pick ups update.  ;)

So I  am finally going to post my garage sale finds from the weekend (mainly because its my best score ever) but I'm not going to spend the time writing everything down so just pictures so without further ado. (if I can figure this out...)

This last picture was the only ones I actually bought from a store and I got the tomba 2 (disc only) for $25 because I know the owner of my local retro shop. That and I also got a few duplicate ps1 games that I traded in to almost break even of these. I spent a total of $120 bucks at yard sales and only $3.xx at the store so I am super happy about last week. :)

Oh and I also got a non-sound non-backlight game gear in mint condition for free from someone who was just about to throw it out. not pictured because I gave to my brother to hopefully fix like he did my other one.

Also a silver Gameboy sp that I gave to my 4 year old nephew with a couple shovel ware games I bought for him for a few bucks

nice garage sale finds Rayne315, starting to look my my hauls.   8)
I know it's a pain to list everything and tell the story how you found it, It takes me 2 hours sometimes to take pic's and list everything.
But I know the people of VGcollect love to hear the stories on how you got your goodies.  ;)

Was out for the last 5 hours hitting the sales myself, picked up a big tub full of classic gaming goodness and a couple other consoles for dirt cheap, a bunch of miscellaneous games and a tote full of skylanders for cheap.

Going back out tomorrow, I'll list Saturday full list of my haul.   ;)

I would really just like to find some good old cartridge games somewhere.  I was pleasantly surprised to find Super Mario Bros. the other day, but it's pretty rare in my area.  I really need to find out when there is one of those big subdivision yard sales happening.  My buddy Dave has scored some pretty good items that way, but man...finding the time with kids, soccer practice, soccer games, helping my parents out, taking care of my wife who just had surgery and everything else....ughh.  I'm just exhausted.

Oh...and going to work all day.  How could I forget that wonderful part of my life?   ::)

I know, seriously. I remember when you could find Atari 2600, NES, and Genesis cartridges freaking EVERYWHERE! What happened?! When did this hobby become so cutthroat?

I know, seriously. I remember when you could find Atari 2600, NES, and Genesis cartridges freaking EVERYWHERE! What happened?! When did this hobby become so cutthroat?

I don't know, but I do know it sucks.  It seems to me, you have a bunch of douchebags out hoarding up every game they can find because they think they can charge a premium for them.  That's how you end up with these crappy shops that have beat-up-ass copies of Final Fantasy VII Greatest Hits with no book or case, all scratched to hell and wanting $40 for it.   ::)

The local mom & pop shop has a lot of old cartridges for just about every system.  There's even boxed Odyssey games and stuff like that.  But they've been jacking the prices up.  The back of the store has a sign that says "cartridge heaven" and it was just chock-full of old carts.  Now, the only carts you can find back there are stupid-ass sports games or stuff that sucked so bad, nobody wants them and there are fifty copies of each.  And they still want five bucks a pop for them!

There's this little fat turd working there now who does shoddy repairs and snatches anything worth a crap up before it hits the shelves.  The little f**&ker will watch you like a hawk and anything you show interest in but don't buy right then & there, the next time you go back he snatched it up.

You used to be able to go there and pick up an old NES system with hookups, controller and one game for forty bucks.  Not too horrible I guess.  Now, they are trying to hit you up for around eighty bucks for the same thing.  And the stuff isn't even cleaned up.  Some friggin' crackheads or meth heads come in there and sell their crap for money to buy a rock.  It's all nasty looking and that's how they shrink-wrap the stuff and throw it on the shelf.  If your lucky, they have a bucket with a toilet brush and some windex in it.  I have literally cringed while I was in there watching the lady scrub hunks of dried on something-or-other off of systems with it.  Then it just scratches and dulls the finish.

One day, someone had come in right before me and traded in a complete copy of Zelda Four Swords for Gamecube.  The lady proceeded to use a spray bottle to spray windex all over the case and wipe it off (presumably because it's a higher priced title).  The Windex ran all down and around the front cover and the insert soaked it up like a sponge.  Ruined.

Ugh....I don't even want to think about it anymore.

It plays very similarly to the Project Diva series, minus the scratch notes. If you've played a lot of Project DIVA, there's not really too much to get adjusted to here. Instead of notes appearing anywhere on the screen, they come in from the edges of the screen along lines to a central point, where you need to press the corresponding button or buttons. Some times it switches to having notes traveling to the edge of a large circle from the inside. There were initially more features that made it stand apart from PD, but some of those were removed in the later stages of development. For example, the final version of the game no longer uses the control stick to move the circle towards notes.

Play-Asia still has the Crystal Box in stock if you're interested in buying one.

This video from Marvelous back in February does a pretty good job of showing off the gameplay.

I want that game even though I don't own an XbOne.  But...I can't justify buying a new console for a $30 game.   :-\ :-\  Maybe after Halo 5 comes out, if it gets glowing reviews from both the press and actual users, then maybe, just maybe I'll buy one.

Yeah, orange spice is a Japan-only Gamecube color. Japan got a lot of cool color variations in consoles like the green Tales of Symphonia console, and controllers like a bluish emerald controller compared to NA and Europe.

Thanks for the details. I platted 1st Project Diva and grinding on 2nd time to time, sadly I got no JP account on PSN and it seems unlikely that this game will make it to the west.. I'll keep an eye on it anyway, it looks fun!

I wouldn't wait for a localization if I were you. It's worth importing now if you're interested in it, and the game's producer said in an interview that it's very unlikely that the game will be localized due to the difficulty of obtaining the rights to use all the music in a version of the game for a different region.

Here's my source: http://www.siliconera.com/2015/06/26/senran-kagura-producer-if-you-want-to-play-iavt-colorful-youll-have-to-import-it/ (http://www.siliconera.com/2015/06/26/senran-kagura-producer-if-you-want-to-play-iavt-colorful-youll-have-to-import-it/)

Nice spice colored GameCube!

More stuff from my online bingeing arrived...

Including my first XBox One game.

Also a thrift store pickup (PS One mini)

Now if only I had an Xbox One.

It's actually cheaper to buy Rare Replay and an Xbox One than to buy all the games in Rare Replay at today's prices.

Did a little bit of running around today and stopped by a used media store that I've given up on long ago. Did end up finding these for $2 each. Super happy about Darkstalkers 3!

Picked up 2 more of the 70s Nintendo Pong sets, was able to get both from the same seller for a deal.
- Nintendo Color TV-Game 15
- Nintendo Block Kuzusi

This was a game console I've been watching Ebay and other places for a long time, It finally showed up in an open auction. Only bad thing is now I gotta hunt for a game for it. lol

I had a strange feeling I knew who this person was and sure enough I come back and its the guy I see at Flea Markets all the time. I look through his stuff all at high Ebay prices and just leave. This town was about 20 miles away from where I live and thought what a waste and one of the first sales I hit I ask about games and She said I think I have a N64. I wait a while and she brings out a Jungle Green N64 with 11 games then before I can ask price she says. I still have the box for it. I told her yes please I'd love to see the box and she brings out the box full of game boxes and manuals. I asked price and she didn't know and asked what would I want to pay. I thought I'd start low and say $20. And she acted like I offered $200 for it all, She was so happy to take the $20. (damn maybe I should have started with $10.) lol Here's the list of games.

Oh geez, posting right after flea, such a pitiful pile, oh god...

 ;D

Nah, just a quick run to the flea markets today since I haven't been there in a couple months.  Found some cool stuff I would've liked such as some classic era TMNT vehicles and Mighty Morphin Power Ranger figures, but I'm trying to just do stuff I can get good deals on to save money, so all I managed to find was Sonic Spinball inside of a Sonic 1 case, though the case has all the extra paperwork inside. 3 bucks for that.  And a Dreamcast game I've never heard of that is sealed, and says used on the back despite it very clearly being properly sealed with like the folds on it.  Though it is cracked.  2 bucks for "Evolution: The World of Sacred Device".  Seems to be like some sort of action rpg dungeon crawler.  Never heard of it before.

Went game shopping for the first time in months and picked these up.  I also passed 500 physical games in my collection!  :D
Picked up Battletoads at a thrift shop.  The Atari games, NES cart, and SNES controller came from Play n Trade.  I purchased the 3DS game and PS3 games from gamestop.

I also ran across a Pac-Man stressball when buying supplies for my dorm room.  The packaging was destroyed and he was laying discarded on the sale rack.  :'(  My major weakness is Pac-Man merchandise so I could not leave him alone and abandoned.

Arc the Lad End of Darkness (complete and like new)

Arc the Land: End of Darkness is such a disappointment. It's like the creators of the Arc series thought to themselves, "Hmm...how can we royally **** up this great series and kill it completely?" If you do every play it, proceed with caution.

LOL...thanks for the heads-up.  With everything going on in my life right now, I barely have time to find the stuff and catalog it.  I got it because I have the other Arc the Lad games, but even the box art is pretty much ass.

August 10, 2015 Update   ;D  New stuff added in the updated list is bold.  Hit a lot of big scores on Saturday!

gf,

Maybe you should only post the new stuff when you post your full list. I mean its only august 10th and you're just posting an ever growing list of games with only a few being new each post?

Done.  I was bouncing the idea around which would be easier to look at when all is said and done to get the "full picture" of what I ended up hoarding up.  But this works just fine as well.  Thanks for the input tafk.

Yeah, I agree with tafk that it might be easier to only list new games for the sake of space.

Front Mission 3 (complete with a few tiny dings in the booklet)
If you like Front Mission 3, then you should pick up Front Mission 2 if you have a modded/jp ps1. FM2 is a step-up in FM3 in every way, although the only downside is long loading times. Still, 40% of the text is in English and its playable without needing translations, although there is a translated story script you can get if you want to understand what's going on. It's pretty cheap too, around $10-20 bucks and its a great game.

I don't have a modded unit right now, but being as I have three it should be easy to do so.  I've thought about it since I have several Final Fantasy titles from Japan as well as Snatcher and Policenauts.  I'm always looking at the import titles and it's definitely something I consider.  Thanks for the heads-up on this particular title.

Yes, modding a PS1 isn't too difficult from the methods I've seen. The PS1 has a lot of good ports, especially for some arcade titles so if you're interesting in learning more about ps1 imports, then let me know.

I headed one town over on Sunday & visited the mom & pop game shop while I was there. I had $15 credit with them, and I brought 2 extra GC controllers (above & beyond the 4 I'm keeping ;) ) which they gave me $15/each for. Used the credit + $5 to grab mint copies of Shenmue II for the Xbox and Fatal Frame III for the PS2. :D

Does anyone here collect for the Tandy Coco? I know there's a few who have some stuff but I don't see many posts about it that I don't make. Anyway, at a local Cash Converters I picked up another Coco 2 with a boxed set of two joysticks for $10 last week. They wanted $80 but since they were going out of business I just waited them out. No one else in my area seems to have any interest in the color computer.

I've stumbled upon a few games for that thing over the years. Nobody here knows what it is. I think I have a couple of cart games for it somewhere, complete in blister pack.

Gotta love Monday's but only when I receive games cause a couple of minutes ago I just received another two NES titles where have to admit that I totally hate the first one but my little brother told me that if am collecting gems from this console it would be unacceptable not to have this one at my collection, I'm talking about the Castlevania (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlevania_%281986_video_game%29) found the 5 screw version of this cartridge at Mercado Libre in only 15 bucks which is a very good deal even cheaper than Amazon or eBay also the same seller had the Ice Hockey (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_Hockey_%281988_video_game%29) for only 5.81 bucks so decided to give it a try, both titles are in good condition with a shiny label and both are first release since none of them have the Nintendo Seal of Quality  8)

Almost came home with a new 40" led TV and an Xbox One. Best Buy was having a sale. But they sold out. :(

Nice find, I own a Tandy Coco, Mine is the original silver version. I rescued mine from a garbage can some years back.
The thing is heavy and made like a tank, If I put all my weight on it it would not crack. lol
I would have loved to find that for $10, heck I'd be tempted to just spend the $80. lol
Most any of the 70s and 80s Console Computers (Atari 400, 800, TI-99a, C64, Vic20 Coco) only have a niche collector market. I love finding the old console computers, I just avoid PC and MAC stuff. again awesome find.  8)

Here's my Coco.  8)

Good catch on both.  The Shenmue games have been skyrocketing in price since the announcement of the 3rd title and the Fatal Frame games are high as-is.

Super-stoked!  I added three games to my collection last night:

Chrono Trigger for the DS like-new and complete
Kid Icarus Uprising for the 3DS like-new and complete
Ehrgeiz-God Bless the Ring for the PS1 like-new and complete (except a light dust scratch)

Ehrgeiz is particularly important as it is title 25/25 for my Squaresoft PlayStation collection!   :D ;D 8) :P  As soon as it arrives, I'll post a pic of all 25 games together like one big, happy family!

The next bit of exciting news....I may have secured like-new copies of Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2 as well as the Lenneth and Covenant of the Plume new/sealed!!!!!  I am hoping beyond hope that this goes through as these are four of my most sought-after games and I will have all four in one shot.

My nephew is the one who is actually working on the procurement of the Valkyrie Profile games.  All four for $100.  Given the rarity of them, the condition of the PS1 and PS2 titles and the other two being new/sealed, I think it's a pretty fair price.

I'm dreading the price for some of the PS1 games I'm after.  Tomba, Tomba 2, Tactics Ogre, Klonoa and Skullmonkeys are pretty damn expensive.  And the Capcom fighters aren't on the cheap side either.   :'(

It's more than fair - a regular opened CIB copy of Valkyrie Profile on eBay easily goes for $75 these days by itself...  :'(  Not sure when I'll ever be able to get a replacement copy for myself.

Yeah, I'm good with it.  It's a fair deal for the PS1 and PS2 titles, but getting the DS and PSP ones as well is icing on the cake.  Again, nothing set in concrete yet so I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch.  But man....I really hope this goes through.   :-\

So today I got this thing.

This is a set of bundled CDs included with IBM Aptiva model computers. This is one of multiple sets issued for various models over the years. This included bundle / OEM editions of the following games:

- The Adventures of Hyperman (scratched disc)
- Silent Steel (I think this is incomplete since it's only two CDs)
- Jump Start Kindgergarten / Magic Theatre / Undersea Adventure
- Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
- Endorfun (?!) (ETA: Apparently this was later licensed by a Japanese company and sold on the SNES as Cu-On-Pa (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zz2LXD6U7ZQ)... and holy crap one of my best buddies hacked this years ago!)
- Cyberia (probably a demo)
- Sports Illustrated for Kids: The Everything You Want to Know About Sports Encyclopedia

Plus an Aptiva recovery CD (password: magic), Usng Windows 95 Multimedia (an e-Book?) and a Windows 95 Companion CD.

This was $2.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES)

http://i57.tinypic.com/vxevsn.jpg

Need to know if you don't care of course how much did you pay for this one, right now this title it's at my wish list and already saw one at Mercado Libre but dunno if what the seller is asking for it is so much or it's a good deal, so I need some references  ;D

You don't like Castlevania?  Why not?  It's one of the best games on the system! :o

Let's say that when I was a kiddo never owned this game but I used to play it at one of my best friends home, maybe it was because never had the chance to test it for hours in the comfort of my room like I did with Mega Man or the T.M.N.T series or maybe it's cause the game was always kicking my butt so many times most of the times even before I reached the boss of the level, this was the only Castlevania game that played at the NES, when the SNES era arrived decided to try it again so I rented the Castlevania X but the situation was the same so I completely put the series aside, now as I previously said purchased this one because of the recommendation of a friend (he's like the brother that I never had) and again because of him this morning I purchased the Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, he told me that need to play the titles in order to enjoy them, yesterday gave it a try but this game it's definitely not for me  :-\

I thought it was a decent price considering it had the manual and plastic sleeve.

When it arrived I was surprised to find the cart is practically mint condition.

I havent gotten to update this much lately as of my move ... but I have a few things to mention (pics will eventually come once I get everything in order).

First, I won a Moogle stress ball from a contest on RPGfan.com and it just arrived yesterday morning. Its really cool looking. :D
Picked up Dark Pit amiibo the day it was released from Best buy, pre-ordered that retro 3 pack amiibo set as well.
Bought Toy Soldiers for the PS4

Also, I mentioned something a little while back that I was in the process of picking up and it arrived a few days ago. I have had a feeler thread out for missing pieces of my SMS collection for months on all the forums I visit. I put up bounties and it worked. I now own the kiosk demo of Transbot which finishes off my SMS demo set. :) Im super excited to finish this set and cant wait to show it off.

Well, Dewey is a droplet of water, so you move him around by tilting the Wii remote whiling holding it in the horizonital position. You can press up on the d-pad to raise temperature, and down to lower temperature which affects the levels and obstacles in your way. You can also unlock powers for Dewy over time, like becoming hard as ice, creating earthquakes, wind  that can be used by shaking the wiimote. The only downside is that its hard to control your character at times. The story is pretty simple and its made by the guy behind elebits. It's a pretty decent game, and its still very cheap so I'd reccomend picking this one up.

Guess you said this because the game is kinda rare and expensive right now and my answer is definitely no, don't have any intentions of acquiring this game in fact if you take some minutes too see my collection you will find that the most titles that I own are from the NES because it's my main console, from the SNES am just adding those titles that I rented when I was younger  ;D

I got it for $25 shipped.

I thought it was a decent price considering it had the manual and plastic sleeve.

Indeed it was a good deal, saw one in a very good condition but without the manual and the plastic sleeve for the same amount, will try yo negotiate with the seller if he can allow me to do the purchase in two weekly payments  ;)

Will do!  I've been both looking forward to/dreading going after these games.  On one hand, I loved the first and couldn't wait to get it again.  On the other, I dreaded the price for them.  But for the price, getting 1 & 2 in mint condition and the DS and PSP games still sealed....Yeah.  I can do that.

On a side note, I need to really get ahold of my uncle.  He has an Atari 2600 with a few dozen games.  What makes his collection so special is that when he bought the system back in it's heyday, he also picked up X-Man, Custer's Revenge and Beat 'Em & Eat 'Em.  Three pretty rare & valuable titles.  Would love to add all that nostalgic goodness to my collection!   ;D

I traded some things for a Walmart gift card, so I went to the local one across the border from me and finally picked up this thing.

They'd had this on clearance for $12 for about two months but they finally lowered the price this week and so I bit on it. Of course, with my luck, it'll end up in a Humble Bundle in a few minutes or in a main one next Tuesday since they just announced a Kickstarter for the sequel.

So I'm not opening this just yet. :p

I hopped by the dollar store to see if they had brought any new DVDs and I saw they had a sign there that said all items in that particular shelf were 4 for a dollar. They didn't have much of a selection anymore, just lots of Martha Stewart cooking DVDs, some random Christian / family movies, but they also had a bunch of cheapy PC game things in there, so I took a gamble, took 'em to the register, told the clerk they were in a shelf that said 4 for 99, and she adjusted the price on the stuff.

Now about the games...

Don't judge me. THEY WERE A QUARTER EACH. SHUT UP. :'(

Got some wants off my list today. I got Front Mission together with Torneko because it was really cheap and why not, it's Squaresoft on Super Nintendo. Shining in the Darkness is actually the PAL Mega Drive Version.

Front Mission is an awesome game, I played and completed it last year. All of the basic menus are already in English, although if you want to get in the story( which is pretty good as well) you should check out the translation script/patch. Its a pretty fun srpg and it still looks really good for being a Super Famicom game.

Yeah some pics I've looked up beforehand made me think this would probably be a good buy! I can read some japanese well enough to get the gist of the dialogue but wouldn't mind a script at hand too.

For me, this is one of those "I never thought I'd ever find this in my life" kinda finds. Tandy Color Computer games are hard to find outside of ebay and this particular title I don't think I've ever seen since the days it was sold at Radio Shack stores themselves. This was the first One on One Basketball I've ever played and really enjoyed it. Found it online, not locally, but through an Amiga fan site which sold some vintage computer equipment and software for $20 shipped. Still sealed, this is a big find for me. It's one of those titles I wouldn't have even bothered putting on a wish list since I never expected to run across it. The picture is a scan I took for the site.

Well, I had an amazing deal on 2 arcade cabinets worked out. I just had to drive 4 hours to get it.
Now, I can't find anyone to help me load and unload the things. Damn it.

Maximum Force and Crisis Zone for $200. Unreal price. Oh well.

I see everyone is getting some nice finds, I'm done with the garage sales and I picked up something I never thought I'd buy but it was just to cheap to say no. lol

First my store/online buys...

A One Piece steel book for free.

Picked up a bunch of Wii and DS games for .99c each at a used game store. Nothing exciting just at .99c I'd buy anything I was missing in my collection.  :P
Wii
- Tale of Despereaux
- Around the World in 50 Games!
- Luxor 3
NDS
- Gourmet Chef
- Picross DS
- Zenses Rainforest
- Gem Quest 4 Elements

GG
A friend of mine gave me some extra Gamegear games he had.
- Greendog
- Bonkers Wax Up
- Super Return of the Jedi

Kinda went nuts online with some paypal credit and bought some Japanese games. Here just some that have come in the mail already.

SAT
- Sengoku Blade

PCECD
- Advanced V.G. Variable Geo

SFAM
- Super V.G. Variable Geo

MCD
- Warau Salesman

Then I saw one of these rare games not insane priced and had some paypal credit and figured sure why not.  :P
NES
- Racermate Challenge II (with adapter) just need the sensors and bike to play lol

Now for the Garage Sales...

Overall it was slow for finds this weekend. Not a lot of sales to begin with and each day only had a couple decent finds.

Found a G1 Optimus Prime for $2.

A genesis plug and play console for $3.

Some random Wii games from various sales..
Wii
- Ski Shoot ($2)
- Hooked! ($2)
- Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince ($2)
- SoulCalibur Legends ($2)
- Dream Salon ($1)

PS2
Picked up several random PS2 games from random sales. All these games where $1 or under.
- Eye Toy Antigrav
- Karaoke Revolution Party
- Risk
- Cabela's African Safari (Going to name my character Dr. Walter Palmer and get eaten by a Lion)  ;D
- Pump It Up: Exceed
- Family Feud
- Open Season
- Midway Arcade Treasures 2
- Big Mutha Truckers 2
- Gun
- Evil Dead: A Fistfull of Boomstick
- Jaws Unleashed
- Snoopy vs. the Red Baron
- Red Dead Revolver

XB
Found both of there at one sale for .50c each.
- NFL Street
- Armed & Dangerous

PS1
Picked these up for $1 each.
- Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped
- Metal Gear Solid

NES
Stopped at a sale that advertised Playstaion and while they did have a PS1 with some crappy sport games for $50. (ya i passed) They also had a NES with 4 games, A Player Guide, hookups, 1 controller, 1 Max controller and a grey Zapper for $15. lol
- Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt
- Golf
- Adventures of Bayou Billy
- Jackal

GEN
Then later that day stopped at a random garage sale late in the day and saw a Boxed Sega Genesis Model 2 and made a beeline for it and it had a stack of games, I asked how much I was told $15 for it all and I payed the man. lol
- Agassi Tennis (with case)
- NBA Live 97 (CIB)
- NBA Live 98 (CIB)
- NBA Action 94 (CIB)
- World Series Baseball 96 (with manual)
- World Championship Soccer II (CIB)
- Sonic the Hedgehog (CIB)
- Batman Forever (CIB)
- Pac-Attack (CIB)
- Columns (with manual)
- Toy Story (with manual)
- Bonkers (with manual)

N64
On Friday I was out for a long time and found nothing I thought for sure it was going to be a waste of a day but out of nowhere I stopped at a sale that was all baby stuff and asked about games and the lady said she might have something and went inside her house. She brought out a N64 with 2 controllers, all hookups, Ram Expansion Pak, and 4 games. for $20.
- Magical Tetris Challenge
- Iggy's Reckin' Balls
- Mario Party 2
- Mario Party 3

And last on Saturday I was out picking up mostly the Wii & PS2 games then at a random sale I saw this...
- Big Electronic Games Konami Arcade Machine (12 games in One Arcade)
It sold for about $500 and the guy couldn't get the sound to work and gave it to me for $50, I got it home and put it together and figured out that you just had to turn the volume up buy holding a couple buttons down. lol
so ya, I got this cool little arcade machine for $50.  8)  Here's what games are on it.
    Frogger
    Green Beret
    Blades of Steel
    Contra
    Gyruss
    Castlevania
    Hyper Sports
    Time Pilot '84
    Shao-Lins Road
    Jungler

Lots of good stuff this week from a bunch of places:
Gamestop Wii finds :
- Dead Rising: Chip Till You Drop
-Obscure The Aftermath
- Tak and the Guardians of Gross
- WWII Aces
-Mad Dog McCree Pack
- Godfather Blackhand Edition
-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
-MySims: Agents
-Chicken Little: Ace in Action
-Sega Bass Fishing
- Tomb Raider Anniversary
- Fire Emblem: Radient Dawn  :D
- Oregon Trail
Used a bunch of gs credit for most of the wii games, except for the last three. Oregon, Tomb Raider, and Fire Emblem were $71 w/ discounts.

From Amazon, I got One Piece: Unlimited Adventure for $28.

On Wednesday, I hit up my usual goodwill bookstore, and got a really nice score for $23:
-Legend of Zelda+ Philosphy book
- Killer is Dead LE(X360)
- DBZ Budokai (Gamecube)
- Soul Calibur II ( Gamecube)
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii)
- Tatsunoko vs. Capcom ( Wii)
- Polarium ( DS)
- Diddy Kong Racing DS (DS)
- Sonic Generations (3DS)
- Cave Story 3D w/ slipcover (3DS)   :D

I still can't believe the Cave Story find, since I've been searching for that one for a couple of years now. This bookstore in general seems to be the only goodwill in my area that gets some really nice stuff compared to the other locations.

Also, I apologize for the potato quality pics and bad lighting;  our house is conserving electricity right now and trying to keep the heat out.

A fellow VGCer hooked me up with Battletoads on the Genesis. I think I'm gonna have to get all these games. I think all I lack is one GameBoy game.  :P

I got a CIB Sega Genesis. I've been wanting one for a while. It popped up on a facebook yardsale. I thought I could use something like that in my life.

My *absolutely huge* pick-ups list for August so far includes:

An imported Shin Megami Tensei (for Super Famicom) - and now that I have it I realize that I hate this kind of gameplay  :-X
Legend of Mana (PSN) - for $3 I'll definitely try it out. To hell with the pricey PS1 version  :o
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire (3DS) - I was looking forward to replay my favorite gen since a long time, and Amazon had it for $30 this week-end so I couldn't resist!  ;D I'm excited to try the new secret bases!

As mentioned last week I purchased the Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlevania_II:_Simon%27s_Quest) and it has arrived into my office yesterday, decided to complete the trilogy because of all the mess that Konami has right now, saw this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kogOybAjy8) from AlphaOmegaSin where he explains that the company will turn the franchise into a erotic Panchiko Machine, I might not like the game but that's not a way to end such legacy, paid for this little fella the exaggerated amount of $ 7.80 bucks and since the seller had another title that I was looking, am talking about the first release of the Golf (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golf_%281984_video_game%29) title for the NES for this bad boy I pay $ 6.85, can't believe that is almost as the same price than Castlevania but since both are in excellent condition I can't complain about these prices  8)

I don't usually go out of my way for GameBoy games, but yesterday I found

Kid Dracula for $4.95

Holly cow this has to be the best purchase that I ever saw on this thread, congratulations for this acquisition (http://i.imgur.com/Pdpkf7J.gif)

Battletoads Battle Maniacs (SNES)

I want to see some pictures when you arrive to the Black Queen level, am kidding but I do envy you for this purchase, as always sir wonder if you can tell how much did you paid for this beauty, it's at my wish list, this one and the one for the GameBoy too  ;)

I like Castlevania II. Love the exploration and added RPG-elements it had. Made the game seem like it had more meat to it.

Granted the night/day cycle was annoying since the game completely stopped when it changed. And some of the clues were cryptic. No way you'd know how to kneel at the cliff for a cyclone to take you away without looking up a guide. But the rest of the clues aren't nearly as bad as that cliff one.

Legend of Man was one of my first PS1 games, and I adore it for how cute it is.  I also loved it's quirky gameplay and some strange mechanics it has.. I don't want to spoil the experience :)  But some people didn't care for it because it didn't follow what Secret of Mana did, but I love it nonetheless.

I only played Sword of Mana in that series yet, but I absolutely loved it! I'm pretty excited to try it, though for now I have to say that the lack of information at the beginning made me feel a bit empty somehow haha. I guess I'm getting old / too used to recent games  :P I've got to get back to more retro gaming!

$29 shipped from eBay. More than I usually pay for a game but from what I've played so far it's pretty good!

Same. Legend of Mana is magical. I'm a huge Mana fan, and Legend of Mana managed to be different enough from Secret of Mana to keep things fresh but still maintained something special the series is known for.

It's such a shame Heroes of Mana and Dawn of Mana happened. ~_~() *sigh*

And in today's episode of "How'd this stuff find its way into Southern California...?"

Toy Story 2 Action Game (PC, sealed) - $2, just gotta clean up the plastic since it's got some stains. (And yes, this is the same game as Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue on consoles.)
X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged Edition (PC, sealed) - $7.50 total from Amazon. I'd never found the game so cheap and I figured I'd spend a bit getting this since it's a GFWL game and their keys can rarely be re-used.
Xena: Warrior Princess (PS1, PAL) & Warpath: Jurassic Park (PS1, PAL) - $6 total. I wasn't going to pick these up... Xena's jewel case is glued or something, I couldn't open it but I did see the disc in there. I mean, why would I even pick up PAL games?

The answer? Both are SPAIN / PORTUGAL releases. o_O

So yeah. Holy cow. How'd this end up here? And I need to get some case replacements...

I've asked myself that several times for things I've found and what others in the area have found. Just spoke with a reseller I know who found a bunch of Japanese import Dreamcast games at an ARC thrift store of all places. I was like who the hell donated these?!

I love finding stuff like this. $12 at a local pawn shop, talked them down from $19 since it was untested but it does work great. A few scratches on the screen but some are just marks that look like they'll come off. This is the Radio Shack version of Epoch's Astro Command. It's the same game. Plays like Scramble

I actually have the manual (in good condition) for this game just lying around in case I found the game without the manual or someone else I know did.  If you want to pay for postage, I can send it to you.  Just PM if you're interested :)

So this is a very, VERY important pickup for me.

A long time ago, probably 2011, I created a very large "Want List" of every game I ever wanted for every console I ever wanted to collect for. The longest of those lists was my PS2 want list which at the time was over 200 games long. Over the years of hunting, presents, ebay purchases, and trades, I had acquired all of these and then some, except one: Wild Arms 5.

Last week, after seeing the price on this game go up quite a bit in recent months, I decided to pull the trigger and buy it. And here it is, the last PS2 game on my original want list of PS2 games! It has been an awesome journey and I cannot believe I finally completed this want list.

This does not mean, however, I will not be buying anymore PS2 games ever again. All it means is that I am officially finished with actively collecting for the PS2. Anything I pick up from here on out for the PS2 will be games that look interesting and are priced cheap. There are a few games like Rule of Rose and Metal Gear Solid 3: Substanance Limited Edition that I'd love to own, however unless I get really lucky and find them at a relative bargain, I am content with not having them as part of my PS2 collection. What an awesome feeling :D

No problem. In fact (shameless plug in 3...2...1...) I wrote reviews on both of those in the event you want some more information on them. There's always a chance that you might enjoy them. ^^

I still want to pick those up for collection purposes, but I'm purposefully not getting them unless they're free or ridiculously cheap.

That's funny you mention that. Heroes of Mana was actually a birthday gift. Luckily, Children of Mana was included in that birthday gift so it wasn't a total bust. I found Dawn of Mana at a Game Stop a couple of years ago for dirt cheap; I think the sales clerk was thankful I was taking it off of his hands. XD

Wild ARMs 5

Congratulations on that find. I really enjoyed that game. Remember, it's ok to spend hours and hours on the Monowheel. XD

Collectors are moving on past the ridiculously expensive NES/SNES library and looking for other stuff to collect. PS1 prices have skyrocketed recently as well for the sea reason, and the PS2 has definitely been on the rise as well. Especially RPG and Survival Horror titles.

Man, this month has been really good to some of you VGCollecters. Love the table-top arcade Atarileaf, had my eye out for one of those for a long time.

Xena for PS1 is a game I remember renting from my childhood, and enjoying, but I haven't come across it since.

I'll have a pic of my pick-ups this month, soon enough. Just waiting on one my item to arrive from 99Gamers.com.

Got a few things this week, much of it unexpected.

First up, I won a few items in a trivia contest NISA was holding on their Twitch stream:

This will perhaps make my D-brotha, Disgaeaniac, a little jelly:
(https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5789/20144092843_3fa6154674.jpg) (https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5737/20755679592_e5aa8c7e4b.jpg) (https://farm1.staticflickr.com/607/20578329309_0e82a07912.jpg)

Lanyard, keychain/charm thing, and a Prinny hoodie, all imported from Japan by NISA to giveaway :)

As far as game pickups, I took a little sick day/personal day to spend some time with the bf, and we decided to drop by our local weird reuse depot store and found these goodies for just under $25:
Need for Speed and Golden Compass are missing the disks, but I figured they'd be nice to have in case we ever found the game discs on their own.  Everything else was CIB, and NBA2K8 was still sealed.

The bf picked up Chrono Cross at the depot and lamented that we already owned at least one complete copy. I suggested that we take it anyway, and he opened it up to find just 1 of the 2 Chrono Cross discs *BUT* in the rest of the case were the 3-disc FFVII discs and FFVII instruction manual.  This was pretty fortuitous because he had just gotten a free copy of FFVII the other day from work but it was missing one of the discs and the manual.  If anything, the discs were silver tops while the incomplete copy has white tops.  Am I right in thinking that the silver tops are probably from the Greatest Hits version?

I'd never seen anything like the Memory Card case but decided to take it when we found 2 Sony-branded PS2 and 1 Sony-branded PS1 memory cards inside.  There were a few third party ones, too, but I figured it was worth a shot to see if the older memory cards were still functioning.

We dropped everything off at home and went back out again because the bf wanted to get accessories for his newly rejuvenated MTG addiction. On the way back from him dropping $100 on that stuff  :-X , I suggested that we check out one of the used bookstores nearby that has a small video game section...

I was ecstatic to find Mad Maestro (sealed) and Mister Mosquito (CIB) in the wild, so I snatched those up. Both in great condition.

A pretty good haul for what's usually a barren used-game landscape in this area  ;D

I'm pretty sure that's right. My greatest hits copy of FFVII has silver tops, and I think the black label versions of those games have white tops with various graphics on them depending on the game. :) Very nice finds!

Never did mention that I grabbed a disc of Suikoden a few weeks ago. I won't be playing it for a while though, so I think that's why I forgot about it...

Nice work on the Suikoden!  Yeah, that's what I thought about the silver tops, but I wasn't finding any conclusive info online. Just a lot of speculation. But as far as I know, yeah, white tops for black label prints.

Yes, silver tops are from GH versions. Some more info here (http://www.game-rave.com/psx_games/d_i/psx_finalfantasy7/). Check disc 3, some of them are actually a Spongebob game. :o

I have a few of those Performance cases for PS1, and they're standard CD sized. Each one can hold four standard or third party PS1 memory cards. They're useful for keeping things tidy.

Cool finds, deso.

PLAY SUIKODEN 1 NOW! Its so pure and so good, although you did play 2 first so thats arguably probably a better game. Idk I've only played 1 so we will have to defer to Kash for this.

Haha, I know - when you were leaving the stream, I thought, "nuuu, Fox, you're gonna miss the good stuff!" It's still up in my past broadcasts at the end of the stream if you really want to see the video of it  ::)

And that's great to know about the weird GH variants.  We'll definitely have to check if we got Spongebob or not...  :-[

Also, that page will hopefully get updated now that a remake is finally being discussed (and not just another tech demo... hopefully).

Its been a slow weekend for garage sales. I barely found anything this week.
I only had one good find this week (as far as garage sales go) it was mostly scraps.

Here's my Store/Online pick ups...

PC
- Retro City Rampage 486
Figured I'd pick this up to go with the other 2, but might use it to trade.

NDS
I saw a video of this and figured I had to get a copy to complete my Zelda series. lol
- Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

CD32
- Trolls

SFAM
- Cosmo Gang the Video

FDS
- Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa

Now onto Garage Sales...

The first sale I went to advertised Video Games and showed a picture of a huge stack of PS1 games. When I got there there was already a line of known resellers holding empty boxes waiting for the sale to open. They where all saying they where going to buy everything and acted like they where going to fight anyone in their way. The sale was an hour away from opening and I figured this wasn't worth my time, I'll hit other sales while these guys fight it out.

Wii
Picked up both of these for $5.
- Animal Crossing: City Folk
- Elebits

XB
Found this stack for again $5.
- Gun
- Midnight Club 3
- World Championship Poker 2

I later went back to that sale that had the line of resellers and found the guy still had a lot left. Nothing to get excited about but for $2 each, I can't complain.
PS1
- Tomb Raider
- Tomb Raider III
- Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits
- Midway Arcade's Greatest Hits 2
- South Park Rally (disc only was in with DC game below) so.. Free. lol
DC
- South Park Rally

PS2
Stopped at a sale and the girl said she had game boy stuff to sell, I wait and she brings out a stack of PS2 games. I offered $5 for the stack and she was happy. I asked about the game boy stuff and she said she couldn't find it.  :-\
- Toy Story 3
- Petz Horsez 2
- Friends
- Tom & Jerry War of the Whiskers
- Stuntman Ignition
- Manhunt 2
- Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
- Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning

A sale advertised Super Nintendo so I raced to the sale and got there right as they started to set up, I asked about the SNES and the guy went to go get it, I waited in excitement and he brings out a large box (yay) and I look inside only to see the worst condition SNES I've ever seen, I picked it up and it rattled like there was a bunch of rocks in it. There was no games but did have 1 original controller, AC adapter and 2 off brand controllers and the guy wanted $20 for it. And it came with no games at all. So needless to say I passed.  :-\

PS3
Not to far from this last sale was another that advertised NDS and 3DS, They only listed the street but not the address number, so I get to the street and it was a short street and I see no signs of a sale. I drive in circles til I see a lady opening a garage and I see stacks of totes, I think this might be it and walk up and ask the lady. She tells me the sale was cancelled. I ask about the NDS and 3DS and she said the NDS games where in a storage unit.  :-\ The 3DS her son couldn't find.  :-\ but he did bring out a stack of PS3 games and some Disney Infinity Figures. So I bought everything here for $15.
- Disney Infinity with plate and 6 figures.
- Lego Batman
- Wipeout 2
later found these two PS3 games for $1 each.
- Sniper Elite V2
- Farcry 3

GB
This was my best find of this blah weekend. I stopped at a random sale and this was one of those sales that looked like a junk yard. lol Just full of crap everywhere. I asked about games and the lady said she had a Game Boy and she digs around and finds a clear original Game Boy with 4 games in the plastic shell it was sold in. I asked how much? She said  make an offer and I thought I'd start low and say $10. She then says "I might go $20" then She says no I'll have to check Ebay. I'm thinking well there goes this sale. lol I told her I don't go to garage sales to pay retail and she still says no she has to look it up on Ebay. She looks on her phone and shows me a Game boy going for $60. I said again I can't pay that. I was about to leave when she says I'll go $25 and at that point I said deal. lol Here's the games.
- Tetris
- Super Mario Land
- Dr. Mario
- Mario Picross (with manual)

It definitely was a poor week for garage sales (at least for me) lol

Got a blue PS2 controller for 99 cents at a Salvation Army. Was missing a thumbstick cover but I have a spare from an old unworking one so I'll just swap the sticks out :D

I was verrrry close to buying a Genesis model 2, but it was $14.99 untested with no controller or hook ups and I didn't have my phone to check how much something like that was going for. In the end I think I made the right decision to not go for it haha

I bought a Batman: Arkham Knight code for PC from a guy on Reddit for eight bucks. The game performs HORRIBLY but damn it's a looker. I can't wait for the fixes... it's playable but it has lots of freezes. :(

I was browsing Game Stop and found Brutal Legend, Call of Duty 4, and Medal of Honor for $10 total. Medal of Honor in particular was only 89 cents and the DLC codes weren't used. The only game I had got around to playing was Brutal Legend and that game just screams metal. I've been having tons of fun with it and plan on beating it.

Brutal Legend is one of my favorite games.  Bit flawed in the RTS type of combat, but SO METAL!

I bought that game at launch.  I knew I had to have it when I learned the main character was named Eddie Riggs. For those who don't know, Eddie is Iron Maiden's mascot and was originally illustrated by Derek Riggs. What a tribute to the lords of metal. Up the Irons!!!

Brutal Legend is easily one of my favorites from the last generation. I'm a big metal-head. They were supposedly working on a sequel. I wonder what happened with that.

It got cancelled back in 2010. The creator(Tim Schafer) still wants to go back to the franchise and make a sequel( full sequel or DLC), although the main problem is fundraising money to make it, since he said the original Brutal Legend cost 25 mil to make, and getting that money or more for a sequel would be difficult, according to him.

Most of it is probably for licensing fees for the music, I'm sure. Maybe a Kickstarter?

Some bands have members that are big enough gamers they might even give them it for a nominal fee. I've heard of some bands licensing their music to good causes or personal interests for like $1, before

Picked up a PSOne, carry bag, lcd screen, and 10 disc only games on impulse for $60.

Not the best deal in the world but better than eBay prices.

Also discovered the $10 PSOne console only I picked up two weeks ago from Savers doesn't work right (movies & music skips). So it turned out to be a good thing I grabbed this one. Works perfectly and gave me an excuse to beat Area 51 again. :)

Also pictured is some Japanese soccer game I bough new for Game Gear because it came with a game link cable. At $10 with free international shipping it was actually cheaper to go this route than to buy a crappy used cable in the states for $20 +shipping!

Picked up a few things/got some mail over the past few days.

Finally got around to buying a PlayStation TV now that they're half the price they were when they launched. :) Unfortunately, they seem to be discontinued already, even though it's been less than a year since they were released in North America. That was part of the reason I decided to finally get one.

LlittleBigPlanet Karting and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale were $5 each, sealed, and The Wolf Among Us was $10, sealed. Puzzle Star Sweep was a few bucks on eBay.

Nothing incredible, more a personal thing. I loved playing this on the PS1 on CDR back then as I wasn't able to do so on the PC. I wanted to finally get the real deal :). It's actually a pretty good port IMO, though it gobbles memory card space like a total asshole.

The month is ending but before that I was finally able to complete another trilogy for my NES, for the amount of $ 23.65 dollars am the owner of a copy in excellent shape of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlevania_III:_Dracula%27s_Curse) and it seems that this will the last game that I'll purchase from this franchise, the second part of this series is just keeping dust at a shoes box, have to be honest but didn't tested it, this one will suffer the same destiny anyway I was able to find another strategy guide for my collection, am a huge fan of the Silent Hill games where this one is my third favorite, I'll date my PS2 just to complete all the unlockables cause it seems that didn't completed this title at 100%  ;D

No, it's technically the Asian Version which comes with the original English dub. The Japanese release might also, but I went with this one just because it says Resident Evil on the cover rather than Biohazard. Also has a manual that is completely in English. It's the little things :p

I'm at work and can't see pics since our "security" blocks images and videos...but I'm assuming the blank spot on my screen is where there should be a pic of Resident Evil remake for the PS3?  I've been mulling over importing an Asian copy as well since it says Resident Evil and has English language tracks and manual.   ;)

There is a disk. The characters on the cover are free DLC. Or you can unlock them in the game by playing through it.

Its an interesting tower defense game.

Ok...that doesn't sound so bad.  Basically the codes are just for cheating and opening something up a bit sooner.  I can live with that.  I was actually looking at this at Gamestop.  For $30, it might be worth a pickup.

Huh, I didn't know that, but I did notice that entering the code downloaded basically nothing. So it makes sense.

I grabbed this day 1 because I found out that day that it had a physical release, and I try to support those in games that seem like they could have been d/l only & I am interested in.

My Bruno collection continues to grow.

$3. The thing is damn near mint.

Super-fun, overlooked, run-n-gun.

Yeah, good stuff. Especially for only $3!

You can use a PS4 power cable - that's what we used on ours when we found one at a shop.

... I'm probably the only person that steals reuses cables from old portable tape player / radios to use on Dreamcasts. :p

And VCRs. :D

So I stopped at the Gamestop closest to my house (the one I work at is further away but its management training store and the busiest one in the entire region) and they had a used PS4 game my store never gets : Natural Doctrine. It was $38 ... marked down to $25 ... pro discount $22.50 ... coupon from birthday $19 ... employee discount $15. And a coupon for a free Skylander. So for $15 I left with a CIB PS4 game and a brand new trap master Skylander.

An excellent purchase you will not regret. It doesn't have as many amazing games as i would like, but what it does have totally justify getting one. It's worth it for Smash and Mario Kart 8 alone.

Added a few more games to my collection.

Klonoa-Door to Phantomile for PlayStation complete with light shelf wear and a few little dings in the manual
Klonoa 2-Luanatea's Veil for PlayStation 2 complete in like-new condition
Klonoa for Wii complete in like-new condition
Klonoa-Empire of Dreams for Game Boy Advance complete in like-new condition
Klonoa 2-Dream Champ Tournament for Game Boy Advance complete in like-new condition

On a related note, my copy of Grandia for PS1 arrived and is better than expected.  A few little bends in the manual and light scratches on the discs.  Otherwise, in a new jewel case it looks absolutely gorgeous.   :)

Woo-hoo!  Picked up complete copies of Tomba and Tomba 2!!!

Great platformers and pretty rare I think, congrats!

Thank you!  These are two of the games I originally owned way back in the PS1's heyday.  I've been slowly piecing back together my old collection (nearly 200 games!!!) for the PS1 as well as adding in some classics I missed along the way.  Some PS1 games are commanding pretty high prices these days, especially if you are being anal about condition and completeness like I have been.

Einhander, Tactics Ogre, Strider 2, Skullmonkeys (great game, waaaay underrated), Tomba 1 & 2, Valkyrie Profile, any Working Designs games (Lunar, Arc the Lad Collection, etc.)....these games have gone through the roof in value over the years.  Others like the long list of RPG's (including Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Wild Arms, Alundra, etc.) are commanding premium prices close to or slightly over their original selling price.  Then you have the Capcom fighting titles that range from $30 to $70 for complete NM copies each.... :-\

I think by the time I am finished, I will have close to 300 original PlayStation games in my collection.  Though, with my wife out of work now and medical bills, I think the pace of my collecting is about to go from hare to tortoise.    :'(

Got some more Wii stuff this week from gs:
- Dawn of Discovery ( disc only)
- Arc Rise Fantasia ( no manual)
- Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed
-Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon
-Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
-Centipede Infestation

Then, I got these two cib for $31 at Book-Off, which usually overprices most of their US game selection nowadays
- All Star Baseball 2003 (GC)
- Gauntlet Dark Legacy (GC)
I only got the first game to swap cases, since Gauntlet came in a generic black rental case. I'm also gonna get Klonoa( Wii) for free next week so that's gonna be good. They also had a complete copy of Exerbeat for the Wii, which is pretty rare, but it doesn't seem very interesting.

Time for my game pick ups of the week and compared to last weekend I did I ton better.

First store/online buys...

Vita
Gamestop had a complete copy of this launch version so I figured I'd grab it.

Stopped at a local used game store and found 2 games priced at .99c I didn't have so why not.  ::)
Wii
- Wild West Shootout
NDS
- Kurupoto: Cool Cool Stars

NDS
When I looked up that last Tingles game I picked up last week I saw another one that was only made for Japan's Club Nintendo, It was cheap so I ordered a copy.
- Tingle's Balloon Fight

Talked to a guy who had two games for a rare system made in Europe called Colorvision, I don't have the system yet but sense the guy gave me a deal on these and they are CIB I figured I'd pick them up and hold on to them til I find the system.
- Horror House
- Submarine

Now on to Garage Sales...

There was two sales Advertised "Video Games" on the same day at the same time, I picked the one that was part of a small subdivision sale and all they had was crappy PS1 games at $5 each and a few crappy 360 games at $10 each. Nothing worth my time so as I headed to the other video game sale (was in no hurry, figured anything good would be gone by the time i got there, so I hit every sale on the way.

At a sale I asked about games and the lady pointed out a box full of playstation 1 & 2 stuff, I look through it and its mostly all Sport games that I didn't need but when she told me $1 a piece I did pick out one game.
PS1
- Tomb Raider II

Wii
Hit a random sale and saw a Wii with a bunch of games, I asked about buying just a few games and was told $4 each. So I only bought these two.
- Mario Party 8
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
As I payed the lady I asked about any other games she might want to sell, and her son says he has Xbox games And he brings out a huge stack of original Xbox games. They wanted $2 a piece so I picked out these.

- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- Tomb Raider Legend
- Star Wars Battlefront II  ;)

Hit a few random sales and picked up these 360 games.
XB360
- Fuel ($2)
- Lego Batman 2 ($3)

Found this in a box of junk for $1, my phone wasn't on me to look up VGCollect so I just bought it then found out I did have it. (doh)  ::)
NDS
- Guitar Hero Decades

At and estate sale I saw this priced at $5 brand new in the box and figured ya why not.
Wii
- Bass Pro Shop: The Strike

NDS
At a random sale they had a couple loose NDS games and had them priced at $7 each. I was going to pass but the guy asked what I would pay for a game. I said $2 and he thought a few seconds then said okay.

Picked up random PS2 games from different sales.

- Pitfall ($1)
- Juiced ($1)
- Dragonball Z Budokai 2 ($2)
- Dragonball Z Budokai 3 (disc only $1)
- Shadow of the Colossus ($2)

So I finally got to the second sale that advertised "Video games" and it was about 2 hours after they opened I figured This will have nothing good and the first thing I see is a box labeled "Everything in the box .25c" and see CIB Sega Genesis games.   :o

GB
- Pokemon Red Version

I hit a small apartment sale and asked the young man about games, he said he had some stuff and invited me inside to look. I see a box full of PS1, PS2 and 360 games, I pick out the few I wanted then he hands me a bag, inside was a N64 with games and other random stuff. I asked if he'd take $20 for the bag and the few PS2/360 games and he said yes.  :D

- Sonic Spinball
- Weaponlord

Now for the very last sale of the week. I stopped at a sale on Friday and asked about games, The lady said her son had a bunch of PS2 games he might want to sell. Told me to come back tomorrow and he'll have em out. Wasn't too excited about this and to be honest didn't think I was going to come back. Well All Saturday was pretty much nothing so I remembered the lady and the possible PS2 games. Thought might as well see what they got. I stop back and the lady told her son to get the PS2 games. He brings out a large stack and its all Sport games.  :-\ Nothing I needed so I asked you have anything else? The son said no that's all he had but this time his father was there and he said hold on I think I might have something and goes inside. I wait about 15 minutes when he comes out with 2 boxes. The first was an Atari 2600 (black Vader version) in a case and 43 games, all of them and the system looked in fantastic shape. I check the second box and its a NES with all hookups, Zapper, two controllers (looks like they replaced the B buttons with an orange one for some reason) and 9 games. I've never seen this variant before. There are multiple Gamecube games that have a "For Display Only" marking on their front cover and on the disc... but I've never heard of a Wave Race existing with that variant. Google didn't turn up anything, either...

I've bought games at Gamestop with those cases before, after they were released of course, in the used section. Can't say the same for the discs, though.

I have been kicking myself ever since that game launched and I had the opportunity to get one, but didn't. The target I went to had them the day the Jigglypuff Amiibo came out and because I was already throwing a ton of money at Amiibos that day I skipped out on Splatoon. Ended up picking Splatoon anyways like a day later, but the squirt guns were all gone by then. Was happy to finally get one yesterday.

I splurged way too much cash on this.

I bought five Telltale adventure games I was missing off Humble:

Game of Thrones
Tales from the Borderlands
The Walking Dead: Season 2
Jurassic Park
The Wolf Among Us

Of course with my luck they'll all end up being Humble Bundled next week...

So Best Buy was having a sale a few weeks back for a 40'' Samsung smart TV and a Master Chief collection Xbox one for $500. I needed a new TV so I went to pick it up and it was totally gone. I bugged them for a rain check and they let me have one (I was the only person in that store to get one). I went and picked it up Friday and since they were out of the MC Xbone, I got the Gears of War set instead. Not the biggest Microshaft fan in the world as many know but the TV by itself was $430 so it was a no brainer. :)

I've been seeing a lot of people getting Vectrex's lately. I never even heard of one, let alone seen one in person, until Mark on Classic Game Room got his and started his obsession with Vectrex.

You are so lucky! I want one so bad! It's just such a unique console.

I'll have a full post of some stuff from August for me up probably tomorrow but here is a nice little thing I found at the flea market for $125 yesterday. Happy to finally be a PS3 owner! (BTW it was sealed in box)

Final find for the month:

$2 (as part of a package.) Eh. I'll take it.

I also got Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Steam) for free from a GameTZ user. I just redeemed it; since Phantom Pain is apparently a complete microtransaction-riddled mess... I guess I'll just stick to this.

First time I saw it at my gs. Same with eternal sonata for 360, which I found a few weeks ago.

I guess this is the final post for the month...

I accidentally ended up winning Shrek Treasure Hunt and Rugrats: The Search for Reptar at a GameTZ auction last night. Both for PS1 at a dollar each plus shipping. Whoops?

What type of medical billing are you talking about in your post? Actually, there are many types of medical billing and that why I am asking about it.

holy necrothreading Batman!

It's hard to believe these monthly pickup threads used to get to page 20. Between games being more expensive and harder to find, and this site being a ghost town, we're lucky to get to page 5 now.

I saw the month of August and was like, "...wait what?" Then I saw it was from 2015, ha.
