Description: | A port of the classic arcade quarter-muncher, this particular NES version was partially caught up in a feud between Namco and Nintendo about the company's licensing fee structure. The game was published in America by Atari's spin-off Tengen label on game cartridges. (Tengen later also had its run-ins with Nintendo, which resulted in the unlicensed versions of Pac-Man on irregularly-sized black game cartridges.) The quality of this Pac-Man NES port, however, was untouched by the politics of the day -- the game was ported by Namco itself for the Famicom long before the controversy (the American version is the same as the Japanese version) and was largely faithful to the arcade classic. |

Yes, Pac-Man is back! And he's as lovable and hungry as ever before. If you remember the incredible excitement he generated, you're ready to relive the phenomenon. And if you missed him the first time around, get ready for the most fun you've ever had! PAC-MAN is ready at your command to blaze around the baffling maze, gobbling up dots, swallowing the occasional fruits and racking up points in a big way. Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde, the not-so-friendly ghosts, are dying to do some gobbling, too. Except their favorite food is PAC-MAN! His only defense is to eat the energizers, special pellets which enable PAC-MAN to gobble the ghosts-but only for a short while! And like all good ghosts, they come right back to haunt you. As you clear each maze, the ghosts move faster. Remember, it's a jungle out there. So gobble-or get gobbled! Guide PAC-MAN around the maze to eat all the dots without getting eaten. Uh-oh, PAC-MAN looks like he's almost trapped her. Thank goodness for the energizer that PAC-MAN just swallowed! For a short while, he gets to munch ghosts and rack up even more points. |
